“Eco-Gem in Columbia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Small, but excellent venue to reinforce the value of conservation and nature preservation. Of particular interest are the "green" features of the center -water permeable parking pavement, wood from sustainable forests, conservation conscious bathrooms, "green," plant covered roof, and aspirations for platinum LEED status. Trails lead to an historical site. A very good spot for a quiet afternoon close to nature. Admission is free on Wednesdays.

“Reaching for the stars”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

For a local/small place this has MUCH to offer. The setting/location is great/beautiful with the best of what nature has to offer(LOTS of walking trails) . And, it is very informative about nature) in a fun way. The observatory also puts on very professional shows.

“Small Sparkling Jewel of Design and Nature”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

My friend and I were enchanted by this nature center. The building is constructed of natural materials with lots of glass and light, yet the interior is intimate so you can focus on the exhibits which beckon the use of all your senses save taste. The walks could be better marked but I don't think you can get too lost in any case. The noises of the suburban surround didn't intrude so it offered a most pleasant respite.

“Beautiful building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I loved the forest exhibit. Walking through the "forest", you learn about birds, animals and reptiles that inhabit central Maryland. There's also a children's discovery center where kids can play. Definitely take advantage of nice weather to walk along the Middle Patuxent river. It's really peaceful!
