This restaurant does a lobster fest during August and September at lunchtimes Mon-Fri. Tried many times to get in but always very busy. Managed to get in on Thursday 13th September, lovely sunny day so sat out side. I had Scallops to start, Lobster Thermidor with skinny fries followed by some form of Eton Mess (can't remember what it was actually called, probably due to the lovely Chardonnay we consumed) The service was exceptional as was all of the food, the lobster in particular was so tender it melted in the mouth. A lot of restaurants over cook lobster but this was fantastic here. Thank you.

It has been 25 years since last went to the Crooked Billet and we have moved into the area so decided to try it - I was mightily impressed. A fabulous lunch in the garden in the last of the summer sun with excellent service and probably the best Lobster Thermidor that I have ever eaten.

Highly recommended - do visit.

Crooked Billet set up a 'pop-up' pub at the Thames Traditional Boat Festival and did a superb job in the middle of a show field. Excellent food and staff.

I’ve visited The Crooked Billet many many times over the years - both eating in the restaurant, and for their superb music nights, and I’ve never been disappointed.
Paul Clerehugh, The Chef de Patron, is always happy, and cheerful. I’m sure it’s because of his leadership, and the way he treats his staff, that make The Crooked Billet so successful, and such a pleasant place to visit.
The food is always excellent, the service is attentive, without you getting the feeling somebody is “sitting on your shoulder”.
The Crooked Billet is down a single tract road, but don’t let that put you off, it’s well worth the journey. The furnishings are eclectic, and this helps to add to the atmosphere.
The music nights I mentioned earlier are superb, and Pete Lincoln, “the human jukebox”, is playing on 25 and 26 September. A night not to be missed.
If you’ve never visited before, then you should, otherwise you’ll be denying yourself a superb, and iconic venue.

Discovered The Crooked Billet via one of their music nights featuring one of our favourite bands (Moscow Drug Club) and what a find. The setting is gorgeous, but so out of the way that the the only people that will visit are people that are looking for it. Access via single track road is a little precarious but well worth the effort.

The music nights have a separate cover charge that goes to the musicians and you are encouraged to arrive early. In return you get a a table for the evening. The music finished about 23:00 ish. There is a separate area for diners that do not want to hear (or pay) for the music.

The food is rather special. Whilst being slightly more expensive than mid price, the quality of both the food and service were off the scale, all in a comfortable and informal setting.

We visited on our own first, and brought a couple of friends on our second visit. They were equally blown away
