We needed a getaway that wasn't going to break the bank or take us too far away, and the Brampton Inn in Chestertown was just the spot. We stayed for 2 nights in the Camelia, which is the pet-friendly cottage next to the main house (we brought our dog). It's a cute one bedroom house, not traditional like the main house but more of a mid-century meets modern cabin. Different but we liked it. The bathroom is luxurious, there are adirondack chairs behind the house looking over the lawn, and there is a new kitchen that we didn't use but would be great for someone looking to cook and not eat out.
Served in the main house, the breakfasts were delicious - healthy options and indulgent treats, depending on your mood. The family that owns the property was very accommodating and friendly. Just outside of town, it was peaceful yet not too remote. Oh and we loved that they were environmentally friendly! We love supporting places that try to make a difference.
We'll definitely be back!

We stayed two nights and enjoyed ourselves. The setting, buildings, and grounds are beautiful. Two of us stayed in Camellia Cottage, which is a very large one-BR unit with a full kitchen. It has an outstanding shower and a heated towel rack, but otherwise not much character. A couple of extra people could easily fit in the living room. Two others of us stayed in Russell's Cottage, which is much smaller but more charming. The staff was welcoming and friendly, both on the phone and in person. There's a bird feeder by the main building (although it had no food until we pointed this out) and several different habitats on the property for bird watching, as well as good proximity to numerous other areas.

We picked this inn primarily because of its listing in Select Registry, and by those VERY high standards it barely measured up. Breakfast and afternoon tea were tasty but the selection was small and there were few extras. Room amenities like toiletries were good but not outstanding. The TV was only in the living room - it was rather small and we couldn't get ESPN to watch a playoff game, so we wound up going to a bar in town. We had a few minor housekeeping quibbles that were easily corrected.

I found this wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inn online. Everything about it looked great, so I booked it for a birthday getaway. The Trip Adviser reviews were spot on. It was awesome. Loved the accommodations and attention to detail. Very charming and welcoming. The food was fantastic and the service was top notch. Afternoon tea was a special added touch as were the freshly baked cookies always on hand. They should have their own cookbook! A great place to kick back and relax. Highly recommended!

I found this place on Trip Advisor and I can confirm all the excellent reviews it gets. I had never stayed at a hotel like this, so quaint and charming. The managers go out of their way to assist you and the food is great.
I got there late because of a traffic jam and a storm, so I had to find my way around. There is no one at the reception after 8 pm, I think. Everything was as I expected, including the cheese platter and wine I had ordered before the trip. The homemade cookies and meringue are a special treat.
Chestertown is a beautiful town with interesting restaurants and stores, so much better than other artificial historic towns. It is pretty authentic and laid back. If you like shopping for decor and furniture make sure you go to Sophisticated Vintage. The Farmer's Market on Sunday is also very good.
I thought it was a wonderful destination for a relaxing weekend trip. I will certainly go back.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Blue Room in the main house and it was very romantic. The Blue Room and the Yellow R...

Stayed for 2 nights over Easter Weekend and had an exception experience. We stayed in the Simones Retreat which was really private and secluded. The only issue worth noting with room were the steep stairs leading up to the room which could impact someone with mobility issues. The property is located just outside of town and was nice and quiet at night. The afternoon tea, breakfast and cookies were all excellent. We basically dealt with Simone during our stay and she was quite professional and warm. We felt we had the run of the place and the surrounding grounds were great.

Room Tip: Simones Retreat was private and secluded, very comfy.

We just returned from a weekend at the Brampton Inn, and although we rarely review things, we thought this inn was exceptional and we appreciated the innkeepers' hospitality very much. From the (homegrown?) young spring asparagus in our breakfast this morning to the well-made fires in our room every night, it was clear how much thought and care had been put into every detail. Eco-friendly bath products, quality DVD selection, Harney & Sons tea, inviting common areas, and a library with lots of Virginia Woolf books. It is a certified wildlife habitat and you will see many songbirds in the backyard. We also liked that this is more European-style than the usual American bnb, i.e. you will not have to eat a "sugar bomb" breakfast and the breakfast room is set up with tables for each room. The atmosphere is simple and tranquil.

We had a small hiccup with the smoke alarm in our room, but the innkeepers came over and fixed it in the middle of the night and were very gracious about it. We hope to come back again soon, it was truly a relaxing stay -- thank you very much to the innkeepers for their hospitality!

(We also visited the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge and saw some tundra swans and a bald eagle... had a delicious dinner at the Kitchen in Rock Hall one evening. Would recommend this trip for people seeking a quiet weekend in nature.)

My husband and I stayed there for the weekend to celebrate his birthday. We had a wonderful time at the Brampton Inn. Perfect distance from DC area....not too close and not too far. We stayed in the Green Room--quiet rooms, large, and nicely decorated. The food was very very good! Loved the frittata and grilled pineapple! The proprieters surprised us with a delightful little birthday cake...enough for two. I'd recommend this to anyone. We enjoyed strolling around Chestertown and visiting the wildlife refuge.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor. It was very quite.
