While the casual atmosphere was inviting, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, the coffee was strangely bitter. My friend had regular brewed coffee, with milk added, and I had an espresso. Both had the same, almost undrinkable bitter taste. My friend also had an oatmeal cookie, which she also said was not very good. Disappointing since this is a bakery.

Rima,

We were very disappointed to receive your review, but thank you very much for your feedback. We are very proud of the coffee we serve, which is roasted by specialty coffee roaster Cuvee Coffee in Austin, Texas. We have done a lot of painstaking research to determine which are the best coffee, dairy products, and espresso machine for preparing traditional coffee and espresso drinks. Every detail, from the filtered water we use to prepare coffee, to the cleaning and maintenance of all of our machines, to the optimal brewing temperature, has been carefully thought out. You may understand then why we were so surprised and disappointed to receive your review. We understand that we can't please everyone when it comes to taste, but we felt it was important for you to understand the level of passion we have for coffee.

The roaster we use takes the time to hand select coffee beans and establish personal connection with coffee growers. We feel that this contributes to an exceptional product that most people love. We also chose to use all grass-fed milk from Jersey cows, which is more expensive but contributes to a higher quality and arguably healthier milk-based drink than what you may obtain in other coffee shops. The espresso machine we use is a La Marzocco GB 5, which is made in Florence, Italy. La Marzocco is well known internationally for exceptional espresso machines.

We encourage you to give us another try and would be happy to offer you a free cup of coffee on your next visit.

A very bustling atmosphere and crowded when we walked in to this cute bakery. Purchased take sandwiches, baguettes and cookies. All were very tasty.

Very good bakery, we love the chocolate croissants and the sunbuns. The only problem was that they were out of french bread and blueberry muffins. We went at about noon and they were already out so I think you have to get there early.

We stop here each time we are in Chestertown and stock up on breads to take back home to D.C. Outstanding quality breads and other delicious treats baked in the old world, full flavor, no artificial nothing style. Wondeful place to linger, too, and listen to some music, have a cup of good coffee, read the paper, chat with locals, eat a fresh cookie, scone, bun, or warmed up foccacia...all hard to beat. Some things are worth traveling for and this place is definitely one of them...we'll be back again soon!

Walked over early this morning at 6:45 a.m. from the Imperial Hotel across the street where I was staying. Was greeting to rows of fresh bakery delicacies. Ordered a latte and sat down and enjoyed the free WiFi service as the regulars came in for their morning java. Was a nice treat on a cold January morning
