“wonderful b and b”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2010

Cheryl and David went out of their way to make us feel at home, and if they had only provided half of what they did, it would still have been a very special B & B experience. We especially appreciated their interest in our cycling trip, and being able to make tea when we came in tired and thirsty and enjoy a cuppa with some of Cheryl's freshly baked cookies. And the advice they gave us about reasonably priced restaurants that served tasty healthy food was great!

Located right next door to Washington College (the Science Center) and therfore walkable to the college, Cheryl and Dave provide very attentive service and wonderful food (Cheryl's hobby). The bed and room/s is very comfortable, with a big screen TV. Mattress is like the ones you find in expensive hotels. Has WiFi. Parking right in front on the street. Spotless overall. One caution: there are two bedrooms and only one bath, but they price accordingly (great value). Sometimes there is only one traveler, of course, and you would get the bathroom to yourself. A very good experience overall.

We were in town for family weekend at Washington College and couldn't have been happier with the accomodations. Our room was incredibly clean and comfortable (the bed was huge and so comfortable - I slept better than I do at home)! The location was perfect - walking distance to campus and town. Cheryl and David were very friendly and helpful - we really appreciated their suggestions regarding restaraunts, shopping, etc.

My husband and I stayed at the lovely B&B of the local Hoopes family while I was running the Chestertown Half Marathon. The hosts are attentive, kind, and professional -- tending to every detail of cleaning and cooking. The location is wonderful - a short walk to town and Wilmer Park. It is close to everything, but nestled on a quiet street where you can enjoy sitting on the porch sipping coffee and visiting with neighbors. All our needs were met, and the food was amazing. The little things were at every corner -- toiletries if you forgot them -- snacks for noshing -- and friendly conversation that will make you leave feeling like family!

We have a son who is a freshman at Washington College. This is just so convenient to the campus. We love the "home" feeling, so much better than a hotel. It's like visiting with relatives only better. Cheryl knows how to pamper you. Our room was very comfortable, a good size, and had a lot of special touches and extras, you'll see. It was very clean, had lots of country charm. Chery and David are very gracious hosts. Cheryl is a wonderful cook and loves to feed her guests. The food is top quality, fresh, and healthful. She even gives her guests a goodies bag when they leave and is willing to share her recipes. All at a very affordable price. It's where we want to stay when we visit our son.

From the moment I was greeted by the owners to saying good bye I felt welcomed. Nothing was too much to ask. They even did a load of laundry for me. The owners thought of everything. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was incredible. Perfect little get away and great value.

My husband and I try to make it to Chestertown once a summer and always have such a good time that we are reluctant to head home at the end of the day. This time we didn't have to! I found Simply Bed & Bread on-line and felt like it would be the perfect fit, even before Cheryl's welcoming voice on the phone confirmed that impression.
As others have written, our hosts have thought of everything, from a basket of snacks to a closet with toiletries, just in case you've forgotten you toothbrush - very thoughtful indeed! I especially liked some of the little touches - Aunt Bernice's sewing box on the bed to hold/ hide the TV remote and a cold, cold pitcher of water waiting for us, wrapped with a lovely vintage towel to absorb the condensation.
Breakfast was wonderful and so filling that we didn't have room for Cheryl's cinnamon ring. No worries though, she was kind enough to wrap some up for us to take along. My only regret is that we needed to be on our way after only one night - next time we'll stay longer!
