Doc Smithers B&B
Reviewed June 4, 2014

This B&B in the quaint town of Chesapeake City was absolutely charming. Owners were very friendly and shared some wonderful stories. The breakfast was awesome but even enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. I definitely would recommend for a getaway.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay with Susan and Edward!! They were a wealth of knowledge about the area, things to do with children, and provided excellent tea, sundaes, and great genuine hospitality! We would definitely stay here again in the future! What a nice getaway for us! :-)

I have to start off by saying Ed and Susan (our hosts) went above and beyond to make our stay the most enjoyable we have ever experienced.
We stayed in the Commodore Room and it was absolutely lovely. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable and the charm of our room was incredible.
The food was delicious and Ed, Susan, and Alicia treated us like family.
We will be returning to Doc Smithers to tour the beautiful little town since we had a wedding to attend this time around. This is the only (the best) place to stay when visiting Chesapeake City, Md. You will not be disappointed!!!

What a fantastic room in Chesapeake City! All I can say is it was so much more than I ever would have suspected. We will be returning as soon as possible. The Captain, his beautiful and sweet wife, Suzan, and beyond interesting mother, Alicia, are absolutely the most gracious hosts you will ever find. The comfort of the room was extraordinary. There were so many special touches....I could stay there the rest of my life and be happy. The experience was a gift. The only regret was that we went there for the St. Patricks parade and pub crawl (great time) and missed out on spending more time with the hosts. We will fix that for next time.

Room Tip: Just do it

We travelled by jet skis with our family of five. Susanne, Ed, and Alicia quickly made us feel like family as they showed us to our wonderful rooms in this beautifully decorated historic home. We received wonderful tours and stories from our hosts who could not have been more accommodating. Everything was superb, including the breakfast and selections of sundaes before bed. The owners redefine the meaning of nice! The location was within a block of restaurants, shops, and the marina too. Thank you. Everything was perfect.

Room Tip: They are all beautiful. Can't go wrong

I love this place and love the people that own it even more. It was truly like staying with family, and they've had so many great adventures in their lives it was a true pleasure to hang out and hear their stories. The room was great, and the attention and service was just right. Breakfast was fantastic! This is officially our favorite place to stay in town. Hope to go back soon! csquared (other reviewer) hit the nail on the head! Great place owned by great people.

Chesapeake City is one of those places you hear about by word of mouth. A wonderful place to visit...people are so friendly...you don't have to lock your doors...you get the idea. It's a pretty jewel nestled on the Chesapeake Bay filled with shops and places to eat. Comfortable, picturesque...a wonderful place to spend some time.

We stayed at Doc Smithers which is right along the waterway and in the heart of Chesapeake City. It's a beautiful old home with several rooms for rent. The Schweizer's have done a wonderful job of sharing their home with travelers but giving you space.

I was there for a photo lab and got in around 9PM. They had hot cobbler waiting for me (ice cream on top) and we talked like old friends for a long time. The next morning they served a wonderful breakfast in a breathtaking dining room and we continued the conversation from the prior evening.

All in all, it's a B&B my wife and I intend to return to.
