Booked the Family Splash Package in a waterview room with a balcony on Father's Day. Upon check-in, discovered that it was directly over the HVAC system with a sideways view of the bay. Inquired about moving a bit further down the hall away from the HVAC but all of the waterview rooms were booked. After a brief discussion between the front desk attendant and the manager, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a waterfront corner suite with fireplace, jacuzzi and wrap around deck overlooking the dock which gave us a front-row view of the Rock the Dock concert. The room was spotless with nice amenities including 2 very large flat screen TVs and an extensive variety of coffee and tea for the Keurig (also provide complimentary coffee and cookies in the lobby). We took a late swim in the pool at approx 9pm and an attendant arrived with fresh towels. Everyone we encountered from the front desk to the train conductor who stopped to give my son a wooden train whistle was more than courteous and helpful. Had breakfast at Smoky Joes which seems to cater more toward gamblers and fishermen, but lunch at the oudoor Boardwalk Cafe was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed the milkshakes, pizza, beach passes and waterpark as part of the Splash package.

This is a very busy resort. It also has a full marina so you have a lot of charter boats and local boat owners on the property as well as guests. Good weekend get away from DC. Restaurant interiors need updating and brightening up a bit Good location on waterfront.
Can get a little loud at times.

Room Tip: definitely chose a room with balcony to enjoy the waterfront Live music outdoors do not start until...

This is a really nice property, very clean, nicely maintained, tastefully decorated, very comfortable. My wife and I went there to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, and we just needed to de-stress for a couple of days. We had a fourth floor balcony room on the south side of the hotel, and it was near perfect for us. We spent several hours just reading on the balcony, enjoying the beautiful weather, and listening to the waves splash against the shore.

The room had a fridge (very convenient!), flat screen TV, in-room coffee, hair dryer, and Wi-Fi. Where we were (Room 413, I think) we could just barely hear the "Rock the Dock" music, so if you're after quiet, that's the place to be. But speaking of Rock the Dock, this was a great treat! Live music from 4-8pm the night we were there, so we had dinner at the Dockside Cafe, some drinks, and a really enjoyable time.

We actually started the day with a trip to the spa where we each had a massage and facial (Guys... Let your wife talk you into this!), and our therapists were Marquetta and Shay. Those two are rock stars in my book.

The complimentary breakfast is nothing special, but cereal, granola bars, pastries, oatmeal and coffee/tea/milk/juice. It worked though, and it was good. The staff throughout the hotel was very nice, attentive, helpful, and available. The pool was nice and quiet (and indoors).

If I can make a dig or two (noting that I still gave the hotel 5 stars), the Smokey Joe Grill was disappointing. The food was just okay... crispy chicken, but really dry. Vegetables were the definition of bland. Just okay.

The other dig is, for a place called "Chesapeake Beach" there needs to be someplace to just stretch out a blanket or plop down in a lounge chair. There is a tiny patch of sand there, but it's not a very inviting place to catch some rays, especially since the day we were there they were excavating a different bit of sand (Making a dance area, I overheard?). Y'all need a sun deck or something.

Room Tip: 413 worked for us. Quiet, balcony, faced south along the shore. They have nice comfortable pub-style...

"What a hidden gem", so stated the two couples that accompanied us from York , Pa. My wife and I visited this resort twice last Summer; we had such a good time that we had to share it with others.

The main draw for us was the "Rock the Dock" entertainment. We appreciate R & B music along with dancing. Plenty of both was provided ........Wednesday evening's Carolina Beach music band.....The Ember's with Craig Woolard followed by a Motown Review band on Thursday night.

All in our party agreed that the Resort's staff went over board in an effort to accommodate their guests. A special "thank you" to Murphy, the entertainment director, for his attentiveness; he does such a great job booking bands and working to please his visitors. His efforts did not go unnoticed.

Regarding our waiter and waitress......the six of us spent both evenings of our mid week stay at the outside café partaking of food and spirits while watching the bands and dancing. Each night our wait staff was professional, courteous, affable, and diligent.

I now better understand why the employees are so customer oriented. At one point during a band's break, I met and spent several moments chatting with the owner of the resort, Mr. Donovan. He could not have been a more amiable gentleman.

We'll most definitely go back again later this Summer.

We had a wonderful time and the wedding was absolutely wonderful. I think the resort did a great job with accommodating us as well and entertainment each night was great. There is only one aspect of our stay at the hotel that was not up to par. The housekeeping was not what I had expected but the grounds and the overall care of the facility was outstanding. Our room was not well serviced at all and with new linens we only received half of our linens back and no coffee but we did make it do. The people were very friendly and everyone extremely cordial.

Room Tip: I would definitely choose the water side with a view even though we didn't have a large view it...

I attended a wedding for a friend and everything was amazing. Staff was attentive, attended to slow drain sink immediately, and the rooms were perfect! Beds extremely comfortable, and everything was clean. Wedding coordinator Jason is amazing also- I highly recommend him. He did everything, helped us with every detail, and I had access to him 24:7 via his cellphone. Rated 4 stars only because the food was a little greasy at the two restaurants on site, and clearly another group of guests were smoking on the 4th floor one night. The resort has security but not sure how in-tuned they were to what was going on.

Room Tip: away from elevator, with a patio is your best bet (3rd or 4th floor)

My wife and I were married at Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa in June of 2012. We decided to revisit and stay for our anniversary again this year. As with our past experience the entire staff was friendly and outgoing. The hotel general areas, rooms, and restaurants are all kept spotless and the atmosphere is very inviting. We paid for the upgraded King Suite, which was very affordable based on Sunday night stay, and had great views of the resort, band and the bay from our wrap around balcony.

The only negative would be the restaurant experiences we had a Smokey Joe's. Staff seemed less attentive and the quality of the food offered was mediocre at best. The good news is that we found an excellent restaurant, Neptunes, just minutes outside the resort.

Overall both our wedding and anniversary times spent at CBR were unique and exceptional experiences. I find the layout, design, and offerinings very unique to the DC/Baltimore area. I would highly reccomend as a "local" destination wedding or a weekend getaway for anyone.

Room Tip: if you go on an "off" night pay the small difference for one of the king suites if avaialb...
