“Good, but nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

O'Shuck's tends to be busy, but we've never had to wait for a table. Calls itself "Irish," though the Irish food I've had is not particularly traditional. Some specials - like the Shepherd's Pie (salty) and the Corned Beef (fatty) I would not order again. Salads are good, but small and over-priced. The place seems to be best for appetizers (the pretzels and cheese dip, fried pickles, and fried mashed potatoes are all very good) and sports, though many people I've spoken to find the beer to be expensive for the area.

Good option for Centreville, but not really worth driving too far for.

“Great local place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

Went on Friday evening for a date night. Sat at the bar. .25c oyster special was definitely a bonus. Place was very busy and a little on the noisy side. Overall, though, a good experience. We'll be back again.

“Oysters and Mussels, Alive, Alive-o!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

O'Shuck's opened just in time for St. Patrick's Day this year (2013), but we didn't get to try it until just recently. The first time was on a Tuesday afternoon, so customers were few, which we appreciated, because we like to take our time with a new menu and and also to get to know the staff. The bartender and our waitress both were very welcoming and hospitable. My wife knows her mussels and never passes up a chance to try them at a new place. O'Shuck's were very good, if just a bit overdone, though only by 60-90 seconds, she said. The oysters, on the other hand, were perfect! Cold, sweet, and succulent (we Marylanders know our oysters!), the Happy Hour price of just 25 cents apiece was especially appreciated. And I particularly enjoyed the beer flights with more generous than usual portions, as well as their marvelous selection of Irish whiskies, especially the McCallums, all the way up to the venerable 20-year-old, and reasonably priced at that.

Our second visit was during a Friday Happy Hour, and the joint was packed! We almost left, fearing no room at the inn and unwilling to stand, but our hostess was quick and offered us a table, which we gratefully accepted. A further pleasant surprise awaited us, because despite the crowd and the noise we still received rapid, responsive, and friendly service. All in all, the food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, the ambiance is appropriately Irish-pubby, and we'll be back -- often.
