Pretty much just going to echo everything people have already said here. I was here on a cold winter evening, I had only been passing through on my way over Brunswick's bridge, but decided to check the town out. And this place was the highlight. A re-purposed and well preserved old church, I walked in to find live music and the house was packed with locals. Little children were dancing with their Grandmas, there were communal newspapers being read on couches, and as it has been mentioned, it is the atmosphere which sets this place apart. I got a hot chocolate and a slice of cake, and enjoyed both while playing cards and listening to the band. I had no idea I'd find a place like this in little Brunswick, but it was a very nice experience.

This is a lovely spot and if your out and about or near, do drop in. Its in a quite old church that's been saved from ruin with a lovely feel to it. Its more of a coffee house bistro in the European style or as was popular in the U.S. in the 60s to 80s before mass marketing decided what was best for everybody and we got mostly upscale bland. They have a limited menu but of the 5 items we've tried they were all very good. Sandwiches and soups terrific. Desserts great. Coffee and tea excellent. Beer, wine and cider available including local producers. Try the Ciderworks Celebration. They have nice music and bring in local artists and bands. They do a jazz brunch on Sundays. The decor is casual and relaxed, couches as well as chairs and tables. Very comfortable and not shabby if your worried about old. The light through the light-hued stain glass is remarkable. The high ceiling makes for good acoustics. Parking on the street M-F till 5 is a quarter per hour. Free on some of the side streets. No excuse, go!

Beans is a cafe-bistro-family style place with areas for kids to play inside, couches and old saggy(comfy) chairs, some communal tables, wi-fi, computer rental (one), Sparse outdoor seating. Specialities are sandwiches, soups and chili. Favorite with locals for town meets. A bit high on the price point given size of dishes but a good place if you want a little solo-time to read the city papers and relax.

This is a very unique gathering place with excellent food. It is certainly not your ordinary place....that is said in a good way. Very relaxing and very helpful staff. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a 'different' unique place with great food. Children friendly!

Beans in the Belfry is a great quirky little gem. We visited Beans in the Belfry on a recent Friday evening while staying in Harpers Ferry (about a 15 minute drive). They had a bluegrass band playing that night. Four of us enjoyed dinner, while playing cards, and listening to some great music. Ambience is quirky, relaxing, warm and welcoming. Love the decor and warm ambience. Would definitely suggest, especially when they have entertainment. I agree with a former reviewer that the coffee was a little weak (but I am really picky on my coffee). All in all, a great place.
