Awesome steak dinner. It was a busy Mother's Day night, but we were very pleased with the service and food. Our waitress was very hospitable.

Thank pduke

I was looking for a dining experience in an historic setting and from talking to friends, found my way to Dan's Restaurant and Tap Room in Boonsboro, MD. The establishment is actually two buildings side by side with the tap room occupying the more interesting one architecturally. The food was simple - the menu does feature pub fare, but with square and rectangular plates, you know they are going to put their own spin on whatever they are serving. I had a tap room burger and it was well prepared. They have a decent selection of beers and the hefeweissen that I ordered went down well. Now for the facts of life regarding this establishment: it is small and popular with the locals so expect a wait - 40 minutes to an hour is not out of the question. You need a group of six or more to make a reservation), Also, because of its size and acoustics, if the dining room is full, there will be a quite a din. My advice - make it a mid to later evening stop when the din will be less and there won't be a wait. Then, take your time, really look at the interior, enjoy the food, note the buildings across the street that are even older, including a log cabin, and expect to be well taken care of by the staff. For that matter come early and do some walking and explore Boonsboro.

We chose Dan's for our fist night in the area as it is open 7 nights a week and also stays open late -we like to eat around 8.00 p.m. which isn't often possible in more remote places.

The restaurant was about a third full. Other diners appeared to be enjoying their meals. Lots of laughter, certainly not a formal ambience. So far, so good.

Although we are wine rather than beer drinkers we could appreciate that there were a wide range of beers on offer. Eavesdropping on conversations between the server and guests at a neighboring table it was obvious that the server was not only knowledgable but enthusiastic as well.

Now to the food. Excellent except for the root beer reduction which came with the pork chop special that evening and to be fair, that was a question of personal preference rather than the fault of the Chef. I have to mention the sesame salmon which was as good as any I've tasted.

In summary, tasty food at reasonable prices. Beer and wine prices were fair. Not the place for a romantic night out but we would certainly visit again if in the area.

Enjoyed a very good meal here which was recommended by the staff at the inn in which we were staying. Good selection of beer and food. Service was very good. Would definitely return if in the area again.

While camping nearby, our Camp Host recommended driving to Dan's in Boonesboro. We were impressed with the beautiful dining room with warm decorations. There was a wide variety of beer on tap as well as offering an additional 30+ bottles of beer. For the beer enthusiasts, the descriptions were quite elaborate but if you wanted a Miller Light-you could get that too. They offered a full assortment of appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches. We both had burgers but they had creative toppings for the burgers as well as hand cut fries. Delish! The burgers were so huge that we had no room for dessert.
Ok, normally I wouldn't mention this in a review but the ladies room was gorgeous! We also had a lovely server, Hope, who was quite friendly and attentive which made the meal even nicer.
I would recommend this restaurant.
