“Very comfortable.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2011

We stayed here on the 19th and 20th of October. We arrived exhausted at 2:00am in the morning after a delayed flight and were grateful to be upgraded to a very comfortable and spacious suite on the 3rd floor. The room was very quiet although there was a bit of noise through the wall that divided our suite with a connecting room when we had a group of lively school kids in the room next door! The guy on the concierge desk at the front of the hotel went out of his way to be helpful and friendly. Things like this leave you with a very good impression of a place. The free shuttle to the Medical Center Metro is useful. Buses go from there to Montgomery Mall which is good for shopping. Starbucks in the hotel foyer was also useful. New laundry facilities have just been installed which are free to use, at least for now.

This Marriott is in an excellent location, convenient to both Metro and the Beltway. The staff is helpful and courteous. It's a bit pricey and you have to pay to park your car.

I recently stayed here for a business trip and was thoroughly pleased with the experience. The hotel staff, from maintenance to the front desk as well as the servers in the restaurant lounge were extremely polite, professional and helpful. The rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. The fitness center was clean as well, which was very nice to see. Taxis were easily obtainable and the staff were very helpful in making sure all my needs were met. It makes all the difference when the service is great. Hotels are not cheap, but this was worth it.

We stayed a night in the Bethesda (formerly Pooks Hill) Marriott so we could attend a nearby High School renunion. While I wouldn't consider it inexpensive, it was reasonably priced. The lobby was nice with friendly staff. Upon check in we asked if we could get a King room instead of the 2 double bed room we had reserved and they changed our room without any problem. The rooms were quite comfortable. We ate in the hotel restaurant and had their Sunday brunch. It was reasonably priced with a nice selection of food including an omelette bar. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, overall, a great experience.

This Marriott has all the usual amenities of a Marriott and gets the job done. There is a pleasant staff, but there is ABSOLUTELY nothing that makes it stand out. A botch on communications between the national reservations system and the local front desk was fixed quickly. The location is great for someone coming to the NIH, but still means one needs a car or taxi to get anywhere. Meeting facilities and decor are fine but outdated. There is nothing within walking distance except the Beltway, so don't hope for any neighborhood gems--at least the freeway noise is not evident. The restaurant is adequate but not stellar; room service goes until midnight which helps the lack of local options. The gift shop is bare bones but has Starbucks. The rooms are generic, clean on the surface, and again about 10 years outdated, with small bathrooms lacking modern tub and showers, but with a cosmetic overhaul that brought granite and new fixtures to the countertops and not much else. If you are looking for a safe and decent business hotel, you'll be fine. If you want more than "ok" then perhaps better to keep looking, although for the amount of business that comes to Bethesda, why isn't there a really lovely property that does just a little bit more ?

I have stayed at this hotel for business around 120 nights over the past 2-3 years. It is consistently one of the best hotels I stay in for work. Front desk staff is superb. I sometimes get to the hotel late AM / early PM and there is always a room waiting. Not much I can add that other haven't covered. I am a Platinum member so I do get Concierge Lounge access which is nice. Good breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruits, cereals, muffins, and juices. The evening preparation is more of an appetizer fare. Veggies, cheeses, and a meat preparation of some sort. Desserts after 8:30. Nice lounge with great service.

I typically order room service every night I'm in the hotel. There is a good variety with plenty of healthy options. There is enough variety that I have not tired of it yet : ). Room are nice. It is an older hotel but I feel the rooms are in great shape. Always clean and predictable.

One of the best things about the hotel is the location. Seconds off of the beltway, minutes from Bethesda Naval (new Walter Reed) and NIH. The hotel has a FREE shuttle that runs to the Metro stop at NIH and downtown Bethesda every half hour all day (pick up / drop off). This is a added bonus as they don't nickel and dime you for the transportation. The shuttle runs until 10-11PM I believe.

I would highly recommend this hotel for business travelers, families, or vacationers. The metro ride from the closest Metro stop to downtown DC (the Mall) will take you around 25 minutes at the most. It's a great value compared to the overinflated costs of the downtown DC hotels.

Room Tip: Gold and Platinum members get free WiFi at the hotel. 15th and 16th floors are Concierge floors.

Staff was great - very helpful. Rooms could use a little updating. We were 3 couples and one of the couples' rooms was a little tired looking.
