“This hotel is in close proximity to Marriott offices and tries hard!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2011

We stayed in this hotel as well as the Bethesda Marriott and greatly preferred this hotel. The suite was larger than the normal rooms of Marriotts and the staff worked hard in every way to please the customer. We dined at the nearby Legal Foods and enjoyed the stay- including the breakfast.

If your planning a DC trip I would recommend this place for budget minded families. We look for budget "Suite" hotels whenever possible so the adults can get a comfy king bed while the kids bunk on the pull out couch. The Marriott Suites has a great setup in this regard and all for less than a basic motel room. I don't know if it was because of the holiday, but even with the $12 parking our rate was $85 a night. My boys love the pool and the nearby Dave & Busters. The restaurant was better than I expected; after a long day of driving we ate dinner there and with the exception of some language barriers with the server it was a decent dinner. The next morning we were trying to catch the shuttle so we rushed through breakfast...opting for the buffet and we made a big mistake, bowls a cereal and some eggs was $20 per person. A decent looking buffet, but targeted for business users which the hotel had a bunch of.

The shuttle was interesting, but be warned, it was full every time we took it to the metro stop and some families got turned away. We took it three mornings and showing up 15 minutes early was the only way to make sure you got a seat. Why they don't take reservations is beyond me. They ask you to call on your way back for 15 minute past the hour pick ups, but be sure you call in advance...our phone didn't work on the metro (being under ground and all). One afternoon we opted for a cab rather than waiting 45 minutes and the fare was $20 with tip...not too bad seeing you didn't have to pay for parking. I suggest you do some research on the metro pricing...our second mistake was getting smart trip cards for everyone when we could've gotten a one day pass for $9...we each spent more than double that each day.

Overall I give this place high praise...we would definitely go back.

Stayed at the Bethesda Marriott Suites two nights for a meeting. Cabbed in from DCA for $45 incl. tip. Nice hotel, nice suite. Restaurant was OK, service was fine. Internet is $12/day, but there are free computers in the lobby. No vacationers, so the room was quiet. The main drawback is the locale, which is distant from everything including the Metro. If you have a car, fine. Of not, there is little of interest within walking distance. 10 minutes walk West is a shopping mall with typical mall stores (Nordstrom, etc.) and a few restaurants including Legal Sea Food and California Pizza Kitchen. 12 minutes East is a strip mall with a Giant supermarket, wine shop, and fast food. Across the street is another strip mall with an Italian restaurant. These are the alternatives to the hotel restaurant, bar and alcove "shop," which since you are trapped there are, of course, overpriced.

2) No microwave in my room. I was put on the floor for Marriott Rewards member only.

I stay at this hotel often because it is located convenientely close to my place of work. Unfortunately, this is the third time within two+ years when this hotel charged my credit card in error. First time this happened when I reserved the hotel with pre-paid option through the travel agency. The hotel bill showed zero balance, but later on they charged my credit card for all three nights, ignoring the fact that this was already paid through the travel agency. The hotel admitted the error, but unfortunately, they continued to make errors. The last time I stayed, they just charged my credit card for the amount not listed in the bill. When I called, they said it was done in error and apologized. So, check your credit card statement!

My complaint centers around the Marriott’s unwillingness to provide accurate information regarding its rooms. On their website they claim the suite has a regular
oven, but when you arrive you're told only some suties are equipped with ovens.
If they were more honest, (i.e. not all rooms have ovens, please call the hotel for details); a person could decide to book a different room at a lower rate. I have so many complaints about the Marriott, its policies, practices, and its many properties, OMG,
it definitely would take a book.

Stayed one Saturday night with my wife - it was close to my daughter's house, we had a car, and were looking for a decent place to lay our heads. We checked in, gave the clerk a nice greeting, and he looked at the room we were assigned and said "let's find you a quieter room". We had a nice suite on the top floor - immaculate, spacious, and we had booked on the internet and so it was a good value. We had a nightcap in the bar - very nice space and service. Some type of private party was going on, with people in costume wandering in and out - very entertaining. We looked at the exercise facility, pool, jacuzzi - looked very nice - if we had been staying longer we would have used it. I woke up early and ran - a nice local park - Cabin John - was about a mile down the road, and there were various trails along a creek there that made for beautiful running. The down side - they charge $14 a night for parking in an adjacent parking garage, though you are in an office building complex and could probably park in the office parking for free on weekends. But we used the garage - don't want to find out that they tow on Sundays.

All in all, it was a good experience and we wouldn't hesitate to return here.
