“Neighborhood favorite worth visiting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2012

Friendly menu--expectable standards with an inspired addition or two--and congenial, accommodating but quite professional staff draws loyal locals, but it's also a good bet for visitors to walk to from hotels in the middle of downtown Bethesda. The wine list is reasonable--given Montgomery County's peculiar supply system--although so-called specials can get over the top. Lobster roll starter is awesome. Other apps and main courses are well prepared and easy on chef vanity touches.

“serendipity”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2012

Stopped here on a Saturday evening ( on our way back home to Pennsylvania after a day in DC) because there was a parking space out front. We asked to eat outside to just have some drinks and appetizers (had had a late lunch at Jaleo downtown) despite the impending rain. I was surprised when the hostess said that that would be fine. Many restaurants, thinking about the bottom line, want you to spend a lot and won't seat you unless you want entire meals. Was amazed how busy the restaurant was. As I walked through the restaurant to hit the men's room (needs a good cleaning), I was impressed what I saw on plates as I stole glances at what people were eating. Our appetizers were delicious, and our server was pleasant and helpful. We were surprised that 4 appetizers and 5 drinks added up to $100. Despite that, we loved the experience and plan to return for dinner.

“Good food, no vegetarian entrees, slooooow service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 21, 2012

Went there with another couple tonight. The evening started out great with passion fruit based cocktails with Prosecco and good fish taco appetizers. But then came the wait for our entrees. 30 minutes! Also, the wines are overpriced. It irked me there was not a single vegetarian entree, although several are gluten free. My vegan son could not eat a single dish at this backward looking place :( To be fair, the entrees and salads were well prepared and tasty, serving sizes appropriate, and the dessert large enough to split among four (we had the adult sundae). If you do go stick with the fish specials.

“Great sunset deals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2012

We tried this on a lark and were pleasantly surprised at the small bistro atmosphere and the excellent food. They have a sunset meal selection for $30--3 courses chosen from the menu. They were supposed to be smaller portions, but we didn't notice the difference. I had a full plate of excellent mussels in wine sauce and 3 tender lamb chops. The Wasabi crusted oysters were also excellent, as was the banana cheesecake. They also had a trio of wine samplers--3 oz each--for $15 to go with the meal. Excellent service and atmosphere. And $100 with tax for 3 courses for 2 plus wine--a great deal. We'll go back.

“Hate to post this review because it is already too popular!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2012

Ok, in respect to my fellow Trip Advisor fans, I will let you in on a secret. This is one of the BEST restaurants in the entire DC region. I would stack it up against any other. Simply fantastic food, good service. But book ahead, it is not easy to get a table.
