“Good pizza...starter menu not so much”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

The pizza is classic brick oven style with fresh ingredients and innovative toppings. The white pizza is very good as well. One major drawback is the lack of appetizers, especially if you don't want pizza. The salads are very odd and there seems to be literally no good option

“good pie, crummy other”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

if you're getting a pie, expect a classic napoletana. if you like fresh buffalo mozzarel...you're even better off
ambiance is nice, prices are fair

don't order the ceasar salad unless you love anchovie past
don't get the bruschetta unless you love focacia and fresh mozzarel--when i order a bruschetta i see evoo and tomatoes dripping all over toasted bread of some kind
don't sit at the bar unless you want to be bored to death by patron dialogue and kids

“Very, very good pizza : 3.5 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Disclaimer : I am not a pizza snob nor do I have any previous
" New Haven style " pizza experience.

Pizza is yummy : very fresh tomato flavored sauce, not too much cheese, super crispy yet tender crust. As another review mentioned, the pizza does not have the soggy middle occasionally found at 2 Amy's which is another family favorite.

Tried the caprese bruschetta and the prosciutto bites - both are good. The freshly made focaccia base definitely added to the overall flavor.

Decor is nice, very open and quite large. Service was fine - nothing great but no complaints.

“New Haven style pizza in Bethesda, Maryland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Connecticut seems to be a hotbed of pizza; even if it is self-proclaimed. (Remember Julia Roberts first big film "Mystic Pizza", set in Mystic Connecticut. Happy hour here is very happy in part because of the drink and food price reductions but also because it is a place with quite a few "regulars". New Haven Style pizza has a thin, yet flakey crust with minimal sauce that does not overpower the toppings. Service was extraordinary. Even though one of their mottos/sayings is, "Haven Pizzeria, Bethesda; Home of the hard to find, expensive parking." Bethesda, maybe; but the back door of the pizzeria opens to a very large parking lot, which maybe quite full at lunchtime, is quite cleared out by happy hour and dinner.

“Huuum...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

Something seems amiss here, better than Pete's? not the day I was there.
The pizza was a soft doughy bland disc. I didn't even take the offered box for the remainder.
My wife was like "This is the New Haven style that you go on and on about..?!?" well no, not really.
Perhaps it was a off day, but my money goes to Petes.
