This Le Pain Quotidien has it's ups and downs but it's become a staple spot for me to meet a girlfriend for coffee or a meal. There's a varied menu that suits just about anybody and includes pastries, eggs, soups, and gluten free. I would not meet someone here who really prefers very predictable food (burgers, fries) but for just about anyone else this is the spot. You will not be rushed out of here (but don't expect to be served quickly) so you can have a good long visit without being made to feel that you're holding up the show.
The food is good and a little overpriced but not outrageous. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can sit at communal tables or at solitary tables if you prefer. At one end of the room is a fireplace with a fire burning during the chilly months. One warning - for some reason it always takes forever to go to the bathroom here - there's always a wait and the wait seems to go on forever. Just a warning.
