“Very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Very clean, updated hotel. Tucked a block in from Wisconcin Ave, so helps keep quiet. A block or two from the Bethesda Metro station. Took the Metro downtown for $3.65 one-way (including the $1 per trip paper-ticket surchage, couldn't figure out how to pay for the ride without the paper ticket). Bethesda must be a weathy area given the 3 brokerage houses, Bently dealer and fur shop on Wisconsin, however still didn't feel altogether safe when we left the Metro station later at night, some transient folks milling about.

Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. Internet was free and response time was acceptable.

Rooms were nice sized - wide (not too narrow). Adjustable beds (firm/soft). Pool and fitness center OK. No windows. Life guard on duty was kind of goofy given the typical hotel-sized pool, but if you're with young children might make you feel more comfortable.

Breakfast was $15 I think, but we decided to go out. Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate/lemonade in lobby. Free popcorn in the evening (chambermaids must love it). Trader Joe's a couple of blocks down Wisconsin. Try the Italian deli/pizza place on Miller (Luce's?). Best pizza I've ever had. Try Madeline's for breakfast (a block past the Metro on Old Georgetown). When any of the stores ask you for a bag, that means you're paying a 5 cents tax just so you know. County government has nothing better to do. There were few recycling receptacles around, and none in the hotel.

Parking garage is attached to hotel, $15/day. Charge it to room, use room key to exit, and just drop in a box after you exit to check out. Municpal parking a block away, on your way to the Metro station, police station is right across the street.

Only things holding me back from a 5 rating is, the in-room safe was not open when we arrived, and the bath faucet was slow. Not sure if this was due to 13th floor location - shower was decent, so could've just been a blocked aerator. Easy things to fix if they inventoried their rooms, but not enough to have me call down to wait on someone to fix.

Room Tip: The 13th floor had relatively nice views, except to the left, where an office building stood. Offic...

Recently stayed here on a business trip…..didn’t get to check out the area because it was just one night, but the hotel was nice enough……Only issue I had was with the parking garage and that was my stupidity …..Pay attention to where your should swipe your room key to get in and out…..I didn’t the first time……

Over all a great stay. Close to Metro for easy access to DC. Hotel breakfast was good but overpriced @ $15.00. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room/Bathroom was clean. Loved the fact that we had free Wifi and internet acess in our room. We did not get to use pool and spa due to our schedule.Would stay again if in area

I was staying with my husband and two children. The kids loved the cookies and popcorn in the lobby at the end of the day and the hot chocolate in the lobby in the morning. We avoided the breakfast because it seemed ridiculously overpriced (but aren't all non-gratis hotel breakfasts?) The hours of the pool were a bit odd (5-10PM, weekdays), but the kids were thrilled they got to swim at all, given that is was early March and COLD outside. The location was just right for us - close to a metro stop with restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The one MAJOR downside was the mildew smell in the room. It was most pronounced when first entering, and since none of us are really sensitive to it, we didn't fret. However, I could see it being a major issue for some.

Rated as 3 star, but probably higher in my opinion. Good value, best for business travellers as recreation facilities are not the best. Breakfast is okay, but staff are over-attentive; it's a bit like they are doing this in order to get a tip at the end, though that may be an American thing, not just this hotel.

I stayed there for meetings. The conference space is ok, the management is great and very accommodating. There are a lot of good restaurants within easy access, many within walking distance. There is pay parking in an adjoining parking structure. No shuttle service from Reagan International Airport.

Well, it's not really hidden. It's a relatively new property a block off Wisconsin Avenue, about a 5 minute walk from the Bethesda Metro stop. It's nicely priced relative to the somewhat staid, dated hotel atop the Metro stop. And its location keeps it quieter than other hotels along Wisconsin.

It has its own restaurant, but there are scores of other dining choices within a 15 minute walk of the hotel; two of these are nationally known steak houses just around the corner.

The hotel has no weaknesses: it's nicely appointed, rooms are a generous size, wi-fi is free and robust, there is a restaurant and lounge, the staff are friendly and competent, rooms have good sound proofing, and the price is reasonable (for Washington, anyway). The Red Line can get downtown within 15 minutes. For those who care, the NIH campus is one Metro stop away.

It's my second time there in four months and both stays were very pleasant. I hope to be back.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
