“A nice Real Italian food Experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

The Positano Ristorante Italiano is an interesting place, with a very old italian architecture, which makes it looking in total abstraction from the rest of Bethesda's context. I was there during my business trip and needed to eat something italian, as i had too many steak in the past 7 days. I had a very tasty pasta con melanzane e pomodoro, cooked in an actual italian style, which made me very pleased. At the end of the dinner i had an expresso, which did not make me miss my country at all (i am italian). I ve eaten outside, and table were not clean. Nor the Garden was in the best conditions. That impact on the overall quality of the resturant and negatively balances the good quality of the food. If you expect italian speaking personell, then you will be disapointed. However, the spanish speaking waiters were very nice and kind. A place to go, with some reserve.

“mediocre at very best - but they take reservations”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

an old school italian restaurant...they try to please...including complimentary drinks after dinner if you spend enough money...but the service is slow...the food ranges from mediocre to terrible...and even the bread is stale and tasteless...a good place to linger with friends and enjoy each other's company...as they will take a reservation when all else is booked...and they will won't kick you out...but don't expect even decent old school italian food...it's not there...and don't order the shrimp...it's small, tasteless, and violently over-salted...and...you can't get a decent beer to accompany dinner...

“Slow and inattentive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 11, 2013

It was a Friday night (4/5/2012), and I understand that Friday's are busy, but it took over 20 mins for the waitstaff to get to us after we were seated. We (four of us) were there for 90 mins because it took 30 mins to track down someone so we could get our check. The restaurant was only about 33% full at that point, so there was no excuse to being ignored. We thought about just standing up and heading for the exit, in hopes someone would finally give us a check.

“Delicious food, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

The atmosphere of the place is really good, but the service and food is really the neat part about coming here. The waiters will serve you well, give great advice on pairing wines, and give you and all around super time with your loved one. I took my wife out to dinner here, and the waiters went way over to make her day extra special. I personally love the chop - juicy and just enough to make you feel good.

“Delicious food and friendly atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Last week during our stay in Bethesda, we happened upon this restaurant near our hotel. We were not disappointed! We were treated to a delicious dinner: manicotti with a delightfully light spinach-ricotta filling for me, and pappardelle wi th a tasty meat sauce for my husband.
The experience was so positive that we returned the very next night for an encore. This time, we enjoyed veal piccata and pasta with squid.
Without a doubt, the two nights' offerings were food for both body and soul, reminiscent of our family's Italian cuisine enjoyed in years past.
Delizioso!!
