Description: Main Street Oyster House is Harford County's upscale, affordable seafood venue. Located in the heart of downtown Bel Air, we feature the county's longest oyster bar, stocked with a variety of fresh oysters. A local landmark, the original building dates back to the post civil war era and has remained a focal point of the community as home to John's barbershop, a watch repair store, the original headquarters of the Aegis newspaper, and many fine bars and restaurants . The new renovations maintain the service and amenities you've come to expect at this location-including five bars and a spacious deck with outside eating area-but now feature a marble bar, high top tables, upscale seafood entrees, delicious signature drinks, and 'Never a Cover' live entertainment, including dueling pianos every other Saturday night with no cover

Main Street Oyster House is a new incarnation of an old location in downtown Bel Air, Maryland, and it is has a winning formula - good food and a fun atmosphere. They specialize in oysters - raw, grilled, in a stew, breaded and fried - a Bubba Gump of oysters. We enjoyed the grilled ones that included a nightly special that had quite a kick. We thought the grilled oysters were the best we've had this side of New Orleans. The fried ones were excellent, too - lightly breaded and deep fried but light not greasy. We also had a lobster pot pie which included lobster and veggies in a creamy sauce covered with pastry. Very nice. There's an adequate wine list and lots of beer choices at the bar. The bar was hopping with a comedian coming for a 9:00 PM performance. It's hard to rate tavern food excellent, i think that's reserved for fine dining, but the food, drinks and atmosphere at Main Street Oyster House were a great choice for a Friday night out.

This restaurant is good for a casual night out for good seafood. They have a raw bar of mainly oysters. The menu caters to the seafood side but they do make a good steak and burger.
They also have a great dinner salad. I know " what can they do to a salad"? It s fresh, the lettuce is not your usual package blend, there are heirloom small tomatoes, and shaved carrots etc.
And the dressings taste house made. I like the Blu. The whole first floor is mainly high tops. Other dinning is on the second floor including roof top deck. They do not take reservations which is a bit of a hassle.

We ate lunch here and everything was very good we have the crab dip smother fries and mozzarella sticks. All pretty good. We ate off the chose 2 lunch menu. Service was good but my daughter went through two different meals off of the kids menu and she didn't really care for either. I tried her fish the breading was a little too thick and it didn't get cooked all the way through. Then she asked if she could have mac and cheese instead. We let her order it and she liked the fact that it was spiral macaroni and the cheese tasted good but the sauce was runny . She was over all pleased with it but was not impressed. She said she prefers the cheap stuff out of the box better. I thought it was pretty good but then again I am not a six year old girl and I was eating raw oysters.

This restaurant has very limited seating for persons in wheelchairs. The ramped entrance is at the side door. You enter by the bar where there are few tables for wheelchair height. The best seating for someone in a wheelchair is in the small front bar where there are three tables at wheelchair height, so you should make reservations. The second floor dining areas are not wheelchair accessible. The fresh oysters are very good. The fish selections were delicious. The oyster shooters are unusual. The only disappointment were the fried oysters.

I love the motif of this place. makes me feel like i am in maine for the nite. Marc McFaul has hit a triple with this make over of the dark horse. Please ask him to put the statue of Reagan back in the lobby. This used to be the hot bed of republicanism two venues ago. I digress, great food, youll not be disappointed.
