This is our 6th or 7th stay at the YHI. We've always stayed at Harbor Crest as we travel with our dog. The facility is beautiful, well appoined, and spotless. You'd never know that pets were allowed in this building unless you see one; no odor or other tell tale signs!

All the staff are pleasent and helpful, especially the front desk staff and the folks in the house. We're going back for the 4th of July and can't wait. My only complaint is it is getting harder to book because it's become so popular.

Room Tip: All are great at the Harbor Crest

What a great stay we just had last week for three nights. We had a room in the Harbor Hill building, just steps from the main hotel. Our room (and bathroom) on the second floor was spacious, well-appointed, and had a beautiful view of the ocean. We also had a gas stove, which we used on chilly nights so we could keep the windows open to smell the sea. Continental breakfast (included in the room rate) is served in the lovely first floor lounge, which has a gas fireplace. The lounge also had fresh cut flower arrangements from the Inn's garden.

During the day we were out and about, sightseeing and shopping. Each night we returned to the Inn for dinner. The Cellar Pub is cozy and offered a wide menu. In fact, the night we ate there, the more formal restaurant upstairs was not open, and the Cellar offered the same full menu. We particularly enjoyed their oysters on the half shell, the lobster-corn chowder, and the lobster flatbread pizza. Service was excellent.

We've stayed at the Inn several times, but hadn't been there for a while. We sort of forgot how great it is. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Don't rule out the secondary buildings, which are very close to the main Inn. Some of those rooms are more spacious.

We didn't stay at the Inn, but went to their restaurant/bar twice while we were ther. Fabulous food, great drinks, great, friendly staff! Beautiful view of the ocean in the dining room. Decorated beautifully, old, and charming!

My husband and I just returned from our third getaway stay at the YHI. Our experiences have been wonderful. We always book the least expensive rooms in the main inn. The inn's atmosphere is charming and gracious but never stuffy, always friendly and accommodating. Nice quality linens and clean as a whistle.

The dining room has a great ocean view with a casually elegant atmosphere. Beautifully decorated but subdued and not overdone. The pub downstairs is equally pleasant. It is built like a ship, with gleaming woodwork. It sounds fake and contrived, but it's not. It is cozy and pretty and you'll admire the workmanship. The food is delicious, special, and plentiful. We usually just eat there because the food is so good, although the area has many good restaurants to choose from.

Breakfast offers fresh cut fruit, fresh strawberries, nice granola, yogurt, homemade pastries and muffins, and more. I found the coffee a little weak tasting.

We will probably continue to make this an annual getaway because it's a great location and we feel so well treated at this hotel.

Room Tip: We asked for Room 10 in the main inn after staying in it last year. You access it easily from the dining room area and it has a cozy Hobbit hole feel to it, if you aren't too tall. It's one of the least expensive rooms - no view, no tub, but we aren't in it much.

We have stayed here 2 times and we enjoyed both visits. The Inn is in a great location, right across the street form the ocean and nearby to many places to eat, shop, etc.

It's really like pulling up to an older relative's house, not a hotel. The place is not fancy and I don't think it tries to be. A little worn here and there, but none the less, clean and cozy. The breakfast room is on the first level and we enjoyed our breakfast both times. And, it was included in the rate. Lovely. large windows to look outside. Small gift shop area by the desk. We have had 2 types of rooms, both a "tad" noisy from other folks. Our first room was on the top floor and was very large and had a great view of the ocean. The ceiling was like those in a cape cod style house with dormers. Cozy as can be. We loved it!

Our second visit, the room was very small...the bed was pushed up to the wall almost. And, the bathroom even smaller. But, we opted for the least expensive room category. Both rooms were clean and was had a good nights sleep in each.

But, the thing we enjoyed the most on both visits, was going down to the the Cellar Pub. During Happy Hour, they had large subs sliced up and it was very good. Good drinks and wonderful conversations with locals and other traveling folks. A+.

Not fancy, not perfect, but real. All good, in our opinion.
