“Fine Pub food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Haddock sandwich was very good and Salad my wife had delicious salad with Arugula and apples (but they really should peel the label off the apple before serving it) . Chowder had no complaints. Overall quite nice but not extra special.

“Great food”

We ate here twice, both times in the main dining room. Service was outstanding and food top notch. The lower level bar is pretty lively all things being equal. Would go back.

“Stick to drinks at the bar”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

Great bar, and the restaurant is like being inside a beautiful boat. Unfortunately, the food is not good and the service even worse. The lobster and corn chowder base tasted like a straight cream. The caesar salad was way overdressed with limp large pieces of romaine. The blueberry pie was undercooked and tasteless. Go for a drink at the bar!

“What happened???”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

This is my second review of York Harbor Inn, and I am sorry to say I've downgraded my rating! After eating here many times now, we have grown increasingly disappointed with the experience. The most recent forced us to come to the conclusion we may take this place off our list entirely. We ate at the bar end of the pub on a Friday evening with friends. After standing for a few minutes to wait to be seated (yes, there were empty tables), we finally saw a hostess who seated us on the outer wall across from the bar. Service has never been great, but the food has been good enough to compensate plus we don't eat here if we have a deadline. On this most recent visit, the service was plain terrible. The place was not full, but certainly busy. Waiter was very pleasant when he came to table to take drink order. Wines by the glass are pricey for what they are; beer is a better choice. We waited over ten minutes for our drinks to arrive while our waiter stood and socialized with patrons at another table. (This is a place where many locals eat so lots of people know one another.) Our simple order of cheeseburger, steak sandwich, and two salads took 25 minutes to appear, and the burger arrived without the cheese. We had it returned, and, instead of melting the cheese over the burger, they melted it on the top bun so it did not melt over the meat! The grilled onions, which were $1 extra, were scant. The steak sandwich was not the usually full sandwich with lots of meat, but mostly bread and a totally slimmed down and paltry version of its usual self! One of the salads had the incorrect dressing with pieces of wilted greens. The meal was not served by the waiter who took our order so perhaps he would have noticed the errors if he'd brought our food out himself - or maybe not. We realized, after being served, we had no napkins or silverware, and, after seeing no waiter, we finally went to the bar to ask for these items before our hot food got cold. We were never offered water so also had to flag down another waiter mid-meal to ask for some. I also have a huge pet peeve with plates being removed when not everyone at the table is done eating. Many places do it, but it's just rude. Once the entertainment started, we could no longer converse as it was loud, but at least the entertainer was good! I don't know whether the problem is with the kitchen or the wait staff, but it's a problem that should be resolved. Maybe the locals and inn guests will be enough to keep this place going, but we are sorry it no longer holds any allure for us.
