Description: The York Harbor Inn’s recently renovated restaurant- “1637”, offers wonderful ocean view dining in a landmark historic inn. Upon entering the dining room, you are welcomed to the past, present and future in both atmosphere and culinary art. Our menu, featured in Food & Wine Magazine, emphasizes native seafood, creatively prepared and artfully presented, as well as casual, contemporary cuisine. Menu highlights include our gourmet Flatbreads made with our own smoked sausage or fresh lobster meat, Lobster Tempura, a Ploughman’s Platter featuring house cured meats and homemade sausage, a Raw Bar menu featuring fresh oysters, shrimp, and clams, Corn and Lobster Chowder and our locally famous Seafood Chowder, as well as the best in steaks and pasta dishes. Our ocean-view piano bar has entertainment many nights of the week and Sunday Brunch is served year round.

We looked forward to our visit to 1637, since we had such an excellent meal here in 2010. This time, the regular chef must have been off, or not there anymore. We started with the same items we had 2 years ago - Seafood Martini's and the crab cakes, followed by the lettuce wedge, and creamed spinach. Martini was good, but that was the highlight. Crab-cakes were terrible - nothing like what we experienced before - flat, mushy, poor spicing, and generally unappetizing. My wife had creamed spinach, and immediately recognized it as frozen spinach. The lettuce wedge was equally unappetizing, with brown spots on the surface, and a scattered presentation of tomatoes, pecans, and dressing - I ate about 1/4 of it. All this wonderfulness, plus 2 glasses of wine for $140 including tip? You must be kidding. We don't mind paying for a good meal, but this wasn't a good meal - by far.

My wife and I are from Maine and although we have lived "away" for 50 years, we still consider it home. We reunited with friends who live in York and they suggested the restaurant at this inn. We had a beautiful view of the water, the food and service were excellent, and we would have have loved to explore the inn had time permitted. It is obviously very old, but well-maintained and furnished. We splurged on dinner and drinks which bumped the tab up to "expensive" in my terms, but it was a memorable visit.

We went to the York Harbor Inn Pub and had a great dinner. Everybody's meals were well prepared and very flavorful. We went to the pub around 8:00 PM with a large party and the hostess was very accommodating and found space for us. We sat right in front of two musicians who were the night's entertainment. The music was not overly loud and were were able to carry on a conversation while they played. All and all an excellent visit. The only drawback is that the food is very expensive, but the Pub has the same menu as the restaurant. If you go for brunch and sit in the dinning room the view is one of the best in town.

Terrific food. Great service. Menu is seasonal and never disappoints! Chef Gerry is a true artisan. If possible, try a wine or beer tasting dinner. An enjoyable experience.

Love the Inn. At breakfast the unique meal choices are only shown up by the greatest view in town.
