“You pay for the view”

Located directly across from Long Sands Beach, this hotel certainly looks nice, but needs some serious updating. I found the rates to be WAY too high for the quality. $170 a night should not have a broken ice machine, a warm mini fridge (no ice cube trays), and mold in the bathroom. When we asked for pool towels, we were told just use the ones in your room. Then we were told that we should have brought our own beach towels. There are no phones in the rooms, and the TV is a small 19 inch. Now, given the location, this wouldn't normally be an issue - as you're there for the beach. But remember that this is Maine...and there are rainy times. Also, the free hot breakfast is a $6 voucher for the Lobster Cove restaurant. The Jacuzzi is your bathtub, with jets. Barely big enough for one, no less two. Deck chairs look nice, but are weathered, with moldy spots on many. Staff was pleasant enough, but not knowledgeable when we asked if there was a pub or sports bar nearby. On the plus side...the sound of the ocean was lovely, the location is good, Bed was comfortable, and linens were clean.

Our entire family started taking week long trips to York Maine back in 1990 and we have been going back consistently (with the exception of one or two years) since then. We have stayed at the Sea latch since that time and made some incredible memories here dating all the way back to Hurricane Bob in 1991.

The Sea Latch has never disappointed us. Right across the street from the beach, nice pool, good friendly service, great people staying there as well. We have stayed everywhere from the hotel rooms, to the big house room, and now prefer to stay in the cottages for the week. We've never been disappointed and we have always had a blast!

Thank you Sea Latch for the 25 years of great family memories, here's to many more!

I was so amazed to read the reviews of the Sea Latch. They were so negative. This is so far from the truth. My Husband and i had the weekend package which included a bottle of wine waiting in our room, Dinner one night at Johnathan's restaurant which was five star very gourmet. Our bill came to $121.00 .All we had to pay was the tip. The menu was not limited you could have an hoerderve, entree, and dessert. Each morning we had coupons for the Lobster Cove restaurant for breakfast. Again it was yummy the view was awesome and the server incredible. Our room was bright and clean and the office people couldn't do enough. The pool was cleaned every morning. The view from bed to see the sunrise was incredible. We are not only going back we are going to bring friends with us. We sat on the beach directly accross from Sea Latch with not only a cross walk but a nice path to beach.I just wish when people write these reviews they would tell the truth.

Room Tip: We took a room on the second floor so we had a better view of the ocean.

Great view, but this motel is old and not in a quaint way. It is worn, not very clean and has most definitely seen better days. It looks like the place has been "milked" for years and only minimum work has been done. There are many other motels along the beach that offer similar rates, but they are much nicer.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere.

This was a mistake - we had rooms in the "big house" and it was disgusting. The place is falling apart, much needed repairs needed. The decks were scary and had mold and moss on them. There was an old plastic cups full of nasty cigarette butts full of water on the decking. What the heck? They made up one room...not the other. The carpet were full of sand. This was not worth the money at all. If the owners fixed this place up, they could get a lot more business. I can't imagine anyone coming back here...very disappointed.

Room Tip: DON'T stay in the "big house!"

My family and I stayed here this past weekend. At first I thought it was just a normal Maine motel. That is until I woke up on Saturday and went outside and saw a green pool. So I went to the front desk and asked what was going on with the pool and the rude lady at the front desk told me she would have maintenance look into it. It was still green when I left on Sunday. Also my room wasn't cleaned on Saturday because housekeeping didnt come until 5:00 pm when my whole family was trying to take a shower after being at the beach all day. Also the housekeeping woman made me beg for some fresh towels, and was extremely rude to me. All the motels in York are located on the beach, so don't choose this one. And if you get don't take my advice, and you do stay there, if you get room 43, leave right away it's disgusting.

We recently spent 2 nights here and enjoyed our stay very much. Room was nothing fancy-very basic but clean and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. Long Sands beach is right across the street and what a beautiful beach it is! That is where we spent the majority of our time. The breakfast vouchers were a plus, however, if you want a cup of coffee before 8am you'll have a hard time as they don't open until 8. The office has coffee available all day, but also doesn't open until 8am. A coffee maker in the room would have come in handy. The kids loved swimming in the pool at the end of the day and into the evening as well. Although there is not much of a shallow end-drops to 4.5 feet at the bottom of the stairs. Price was a bit steep, but you are paying for the location. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Great views of the ocean if you stay on the 2nd floor......
