This was our third year and once again, great location and service. The rooms were available when we arrived and the housekeeping staff were nothing but professional. The staff at the front desk were very accommodating. My only concern or request would be to see more recycling containers around the Facilities. Already booked for next year!

We've stayed at the Anchorage Inn a ton of times and every time they do a great job. It's hard to find a place in Maine on the beach with so many amenities! They have 2indoor pools. An outdoor pool and an indoor and outdoor hot tub!!! They offer towel Sevice for the pool which is so nice. The buildings are so well maintained and the staff is eager to please. We usually stay on the 3rd floor for the best view. You can see Nubble Lighthouse from the balcony!! The rooms are clean but tight if you have 2 queen beds. The king bed rooms have more room. Each room has a frig which is convenient. There are 3 good restaurant within walking distance. A trolley that stops in front of the hotel. The list goes in and on. We love it!!

Room Tip: 3rd floor for a great view. Get a room with only one bed for more space in the room. There is no ele...

Have stayed at the Anchorage Inn several times, never had a problem. The rooms are clean and basic. The location is ideal for access to Long Sands Beach! Right across the street, easy walk, no parking worries. Plus, you have a great restaurant directly across the street, with others within walking distance.

We stayed with another couple in mid-May, 2013, in the newer building. I think it is called ocean suites, or something like that. Being just before it gets busy, we had plenty pf restful peace, but must say that in the area at that time of year there are not a lot of businesses open yet. We weren't bothered by that and found several small diners and restaurants in the area. The building was nearly empty and the pool we had all to ourselves. We will return sometime after Labor Day, as we do prefer the quiet times. We found everything to our liking, and nothing to complain about.

They almost did us but because we had a history with the Anchorage, we decided to go ahead and book for 3 nights. Even though we hadn't been there in 15 years we wanted to go back with our grandchildren to York Beach. Because of Maine's changing weather (we had 1 1/2 days of rain) we selected this hotel for the indoor pools which is the #1 reason we stayed there with our children years before.
Two indoor pools, one outdoor pool, two hot tubs, one wading pool with the beach right across the street are hard to beat and certainly a large part of what you ar paying for. The pools are the grounds are very clean.
Our rooms, both on the third floor of the Atrium were immaculate and ours had a great view of the ocean and Nubble Light. We left our patio door open all night to hear the waves. Both rooms were a good size and each had a small fridge. They give major brands of Patene shampoo and Vaseline body cream. There were plenty of towels including extra larger ones.
An extra pillow was also in the room for immediate availability.
The grands thought it was" cool" to have a pool right in the building.
The "pool man" does indeed exist and we were glad to have been forewarned. He descended on us almost immediately. We had just arrived and were having a soda tableside at the indoor pool. As the saying goes "Sometimes it is not what you say, but how you say it." Perhaps he gets a "bonus" for anyone he catches.
The cleaning staff were professional and friendly. The woman who ran the snack bar was lovely and customer friendly. The desk staff were inconsistent. My husband lost his pool band and was told he had to pay $10 for another one. We were not told that upon check-in. My daughter ended up talking to another person at reception and got another at no cost.
The children loved it and so did we and plan to return again next year.
5 stars for location, pools, rooms. 4 stars for overall service dropping to 3 stars if you include the "pool man"

Room Tip: atrium, pool side either 2nd or 3 floor

We stayed four days at the Anchorage Inn in July. We hesitated to book there due to some of the negative reviews but wanted to try out York Beach. We usually stay in Ogunquit or Wells. We also wanted something on the beach. We stayed in the Atrium Building on the third floor. The room called for a limited ocean view. Although the outside deck was small, we had a beautiful view of the ocean to watch and listen to the waves. Our room had two queen beds and a nice sized bathroom. The refrigerator was small but adequate. When you leave your room, you could look through all the glass and see the beautiful indoor pool below.

We found the Anchorage Inn to be spotless. Hired help was cleaning all the time. We also found the staff to be friendly. Absolutely no problems with rude people. When we checked out, we were told we could stay all day at the pool area if we wanted. We did stay longer because it was such a beautiful day and the pool areas are really nice. They have a nice large quiet deck above the pool areas to sit in the sun and look out at the ocean.

We also saw many reviews about the pool man who checks pool bracelets. After only being at the pool for 10 mins, we spotted him. We had to laugh to ourselves because he does exist but we had no problem with this. If you didn't wear your bracelet, he asked your name and room number. I'm happy for that as we paid a good amount of money to stay here and wouldn't want just anyone to sneak into the pool area. We also watched him meticulously keep the lounge chairs in place and retrieve old pool towels and pick up any debris. He was constantly keeping the area clean.

We loved the location. We could walk to town and even some restaurants. The restaurant across the street is beautiful. All in all, our experience was great and we were very happy to stay there. We will definitely come back to the Anchorage.

I've been going to York Beach Maine ever since I was a young child with my family, when I married and had children of my own the tradition continuted and still does. I have stayed at many different places along long sands beach from houses to hotels and so far the best hotel has been the Anchorage Inn. The staff, managment Pat, Ron, Mona has always been friendly and accomadating to your needs, the location is right across the street from the ocean, theres a restaurant right across the street with seating in or out ,if you choose out theres a beautiful view of the lighthouse. The hotel is in walking distance to some restaurants on long sands and if you choose you may take a trolley in town that stops right in front of the hotel. We have stayed on the first, second and even the suites and have had no problems. Theres a indoor outdoor pool, a small cafe with a light menu if you choose not to go for a big breakfast or lunch,

Room Tip: Second and third floor rooms are best for ocean view.
