Best Western York Inn
Ranked #6 of 17 Hotels in York
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Because of the nature of my stay it may be unfair to make any real helpful comments. I was there to relax and enjoy York Beach. I did that, but had a few hiccups at the hotel. keys do deactivate if placed near cell phones or credit cards and this is annoying because you then have to go to the desk to get new ones. This happen to us three times. Then we were told what the cause was and stopped keeping keys near cell phones and credit cards. The people above us were very heavy footed. May have been kids. I did not complain because it was not during prime sleeping time. Bathrooms are tiny (tub and toilet enclosed) furniture is dated, but the beds are comfortable. It was located near the beach as far as driving time - 10 minutes - and that was a plus.

Looks nice from the outside but very tired inside. Staff quite friendly , but hallways (in our section) smelled of gasoline , and the carpets need a good cleaning , or replacement. Breakfast room is too small , and the selection is basic , at best.
The morning of August 6 th. there was no hot water for showers from 8:30 until after 10.00 AM!
Duty Manager did not think that this was an issue , as people who waited around would have been O.K. after that. Upon check out on the morning of August 7 th. ( which had hot water) no discount was offered . Finally , after some discussion , a small 10% discount was reluctantly provided. Room was fine.

We booked our hotel through Booking.com. With a AAA discount the price was good considering the cost of other hotels in the area during the summer season. The staff was courteous, the room was very clean and the pool was nice too. Only downside was the barely edible free breakfast. We'd stay here again. If you plan to go to the Ogunquit Playhouse, the hotel is a straight shot down Route 1 - about a 15-20 minute ride. It's also close to the Kittery outlets.

We were a last minute booking. We wanted to be close the outlets, beaches and Ogunquit Theater. This hotel had space to fit our needs, so we took what we could get. The king room with sofa was spacious, however, the mattress in the sofa was so poor that even our child could not sleep well on it. The bathroom was ridiculously small to the point we had to stand in the tub in order to close the door. The pool was adequate. So was breakfast as long as you stay away from the eggs. They tout free internet service, but could not connect even with tech support. Would we stay there again? Probably, but only if our first choice was unavailable.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Best Western York Inn .Accomodations(king room) were very good,a/c worked well and was quiet,TV was flat panel with many channels and bed was comfortable. Only drawback was the size of the bathroom,as my wife and I are fairly small people but their was no room to move.Breakfast was very good and kept fresh.Staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Decent hotel. Perfect for our mini weekend vacation. There wasn no microwave in the room which was inconvenient. Close to the beaches and attractions we wanted to see. The breakfast was good, the pancake machine was a big hit with the kids. Very small bathroom but the room was a nice size. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice bright hotel rooms, great lobby area and breakfast room. Internet was very slow and not satisfactory at all. Would stay here again if in the area and for August in coastal Maine the price was right as well.
