We recently stayed at Dockside & couldn't have been more pleased. The views from all over the property & from our private deck were of a quaint marina & inlet with the ocean in the distance. Our room was comfortable & immaculate. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choices, quiche, baked eggs, pastries, toasts, yogurt, fruit etc. Served in a lovely colonial house. We had dinner in their restaurant on the screened porch overlooking the water. Excellent gourmet food. We usually stay in Kennebunkport which is always very expensive & crowded. York Harbor will be our new destination. We can't wait to return.

We live in Coastal Maine and for some reason have missed going to the Dockside Restaurant in York Harbor until this afternoon. It was a picture perfect Maine summer day and the dining experience was just as exquisite. Our hostess asked if we'd like to sit on the screened porch, which we happily agreed to and had a lovely corner table with a truly breathtaking view of the harbor--remember, we live here--harbor views are aplenty, but this one was truly spectacular as fishing boats quietly glided in and out of the harbor, kayakers drifted by, and sea gulls hovered over the nearby islands. Our waiter was excellent--helpful, but non-obtrusive. My wife and I shared a garden salad which they separated onto two plates for us--delicious honey-lemon vinaigrette dressing. I had a fried haddock filet sandwich with hand cut fries. Huge portion and delicious tartar sauce. The sandwich came with lettuce and tomato and a pickle. My wife had a mouth-watering Caprese sandwich on toasted bread with heirloom tomatoes and balsamic vinegar drizzled on the side of the plate. Some cornichons and a small arugula salad lightly sprinkled with cheese (Parmesan I think) accompanied the sandwich. Total bill along with tax and two glasses of wine for each of us came to just over $57.00! What a great find. The restaurant is adjacent to a charming old inn which we took a peek at after lunch. A large wrap-around porch with welcoming rocking chairs overlooked that spectacular harbor I keep talking about along with beautiful lawns and pine tress. We'll be sure to return to the restaurant and might even try the inn for an evening, even though we live about half an hour away!

We just got back from our Boston to Maine trip and loved this place. This is truly the most beautiful state I have everseen. Dockside has one side which is the harbor with all the boats and another side with the view to the ocean. I sat and watched the fishing boats go out in the morning from chairs set up on the lawn. As beautiful as it was, it most be even more so when the Fall colors are out!
I had a hard time finding any lodging in Maine that allowed for 4 people. Our room had a queen bed and futon. Large bathroom and deck to sit out and look at the water. I am so glad we were able to discover Dockside. The saddest thing is we were only there for one night. My husband and I definitely want to come back and stay longer.
We ate at the Cellar Pub in York. Fun place. Makes you feel like you are in a ship. The food was really good. Go across the street and through the iron arch. There are gravel paths that go along the water and you can get down to the water with fun rocks to climb on. Also, plagues with info. on the houses that used to be there and about the man that lived there.
Going to the lighthouse is a must. My 11 1/2 yr. old's favorite. There is also a restraunt there with lots of ice cream shops along the drive. And restrooms. You drive along the ocean and we even saw surfers. The waves were pretty big. My daughters loved climbing the rocks. I would worry about younger kids unless you hold their hands the whole time. They also saw crabs and star fish in the tidal spot. You can't actually get to the island where the light house is, but can see pretty easily.
One of the things I loved most about Maine were the houses. Yeah, there are the million dollar ones, but just about everyone had these beautiful victorian style houses in immaculate condition. Even driving through the inland area it was all beautiful.
First stay here and next stay longer than the one day we did. It is very relaxing and you will love it.

We stayed here for a family vacation, found the staff very helpful and friendly, the location was wonderful with the harbor on 2 sides of the property and just a great place to stay. They offered an excellent buffet breakfast every day, even the coffee was notable because it was so excellent. Highly recommend.

The staff was very nice, but gave us our privacy completely. Loved the room, so clean and good smelling, the view was amazing from our room and deck. The room was simple and modern. No extra frills, but that is our style. The breakfast was so delicious you could tell everything was homemade. It was a great get away for our 2nd anniversary! We will go again!

If you are looking for a place to stay in York Maine, the Dockside Guest Quarters is a beautiful place to stay. I go to Maine every year to my family reunion and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. You have lovely ocean views from your room, and the sun sets are beautiful! It's a great place to sit outside and read a book, or use one of their bikes and take a ride into town over the bridge. We also like to drive down the coast to York Beach, have lunch at the Goldenrod or shop. The Dockside is close to everything. We can take a day trip up the coast and get back in time to have a glass of wine and watch the sun set. It's tucked away off of Hwy 103, you could drive by and not even know it was there. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view.
