Description: For many of us at GiGi's, our love of food started with our grandparents. A trip to gradma's always meant a roast in the oven and warm cookies and pies for dessert! Throughout our respective restaurant careers, Italian food and drink has inspired us immensely. Gigi is a name used for grandma in Italian. We found it very fitting that this restaurant, the culmination of our love for Italian food and drink, be named for our grandmothers.

“First Class, Comfortable, Great Food!”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

My fiance and I celebrated his birthday here and found the atmosphere to be extremely comfortable and friendly. We dressed in business casual and other guests wore vacation casual both without any feeling of being out-of-place. Not only did R.J. (one of the ownership partners), welcome us warmly, our waitress was also very accommodating. The highlight of the evening was the food! I am not a frequent fish-eater, but decided on the Swordfish Picata based on our server's description. I thoroughly enjoyed it and Ken chose Roast Duck, one of the specials of the day, and was very pleased with his meal. We both will not hesitate to recommend this important addition to our oceanside community!

“Amazing Restaurant!!!”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

The ambiance is incredible, the service quick and friendly and the food superb. The gentlemen who served us informaed us that the restaurant had only been in business for about four months and that they were attempting to stay open through January. I certainly hope they are successful because the dining experience is absolutely top notch!

“Outstanding restaurant, AND takes care of gluten issues!”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

Spectacular food. Truly wonderful. We've eaten a lot of Gluten Free (GF) pasta over the years, and this was by far the best. The tomato sauce was outstanding, the chicken parmigiana was made without the breading for us (and was amazing), the clam sauce was great, and the flank steak dinner was tremendous. I really can't say enough about how great the staff was, how great the food was, and how accommodating they all were. One of the best restaurants we've eaten in, GF or not.

“Great Italian Food and Great Space”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

This was the first trip to a new restaurant (just opened this year). An extensive wine list (Italian centric). Well prepared food with the freshest product. The raw bar and antipasto platter were outstanding. Clean open space and attentive wait staff. Looking forward to our next visit.

“Shockingly Poor Food and Service”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

We have tried Gigi’s three times and it got progressively worse. The third time was horrible. The veal saltimbocca was so tough we could not eat it. After delivering the meal, the waitress was nowhere to be found. When she came at the end, we asked her to tell the manager of the poor quality of the veal. She came back 20 minutes later and did not say anything about the veal. Therefore, we asked what the manger said. She replied, "He will pay more attention to the veal in the future." He was not going to d anything about the inedible meal. Therefore, we asked to speak to the manager. When he finally came over, he said, "Veal is really a hit or miss. I do not recommend it. You should have asked the waitress her opinion. (We did and she had said it was excellent). The manager went on to say if you want a good meal at Gigi's, always ask the waitperson what their favorite is and order that!
We were shocked. He was actually telling us not to choose what we liked but to order what the waitperson liked.
We will NEVER go back. We had such high hopes for this restaurant. It is in the beautiful space once occupied by Lydia Shire's Blue Sky. That was a wonderful restaurant. Given the attitude of this manager, we hope a new owner comes in with a better chef and better sense of respect and responsibility to the patrons.
