Located in the former Blue Sky restaurant at the Atlantic House, Gigi's offers a casual dining experience with the "right" elements of fine dining. For those former Blue Sky patrons, you will recognize the white leather booths but gone are the mega bulb chandeliers and the linen table clothes. Not to worry, however, the staff is well-trained - our waitress Mackensie knew the menu, made good recommendations, took the order by memory, timed our meal perfectly, and made sure we had clean silverware (these are the "right" fine-dining elements) - all without any pretense.
The menu is simple but comprehensive with upscale Italian dishes at very fair prices (around $25/entree). Gigi's is NOT for those looking for red sauce and garlic! Drinks are fun and interesting and it's nice to have a cocktail rather than dive right into the wine - plus most/all of their wines are available and fairly priced by the glass so no need to fuss over who wants what.
Now, for the food: And let me preface by saying the owners seem very committed to getting it right and we will definitely go back. So......the center of the plate items were good to excellent with high grades for the Osso Bucco, a B+ for the Chicken Marsala, and a B for the Swordfish. The accompaniments were another story, particularly anything potato related, but the veggies were also disappointing! The risotto was excellent - so much so that I wished for more. These are not huge issues but as the portion sizes are "just right", the entire entree needs to be complete. Also, we should have ordered more than 3 of the individual antipasto items but that was our fault - I understand the Ravioli appetizer is superb.
I am quite certain the earnest owners will continue to listen and respond to feedback and get each detail right. And, as locals, I'm sure we'll head back soon and continue to work our way through the menu.
