Owner description: You can smell the wafting of the sweet preserves from the parking lot or maybe it's ginger for one of the sauces. This is home for Stonewall Kitchen. Located just off 1-95 on Coastal Route 1-A in York, Maine are the: Home Offices, Production Facility, Company Store & Cafe and Cooking School. The welcoming environment of our Company Store is exemplified in the friendly staff ready to greet you, offer you samples of any of our specialty food items or assist you in picking out the ideal gift. The store features our entire line of specialty foods plus useful kitchen gadgets, cookware, tableware and home decor. Our demonstration kitchen is often cooking up something delicious to taste and is on-hand to share recipes and food for thought with you.

I have been to Stonewall Kitchen many times for both shopping and dining in the cafe and have always had a great experience. This was the first time I visited the cooking school. I went to one of the dinner demonstrations on a Saturday night. The food was amazingly good and the chef running the demonstration was both informative and entertaining. It's a great way to get a great meal, entertainment and fabulous recipes all at once. I highly recommend Stonewall's cooking school to both cooks and non-cooks alike.

Easy place to find, lots of parking, Huge store and cafe... best part is the samples! huge selections of jams, dips, and sauces, Best part is you can sample! Their products will make your taste buds dance, they are so delicious. I purchased the Country Ketchup.... ketchup lovers go for this! you will not be disappointed. I only got interested in this place because of their products which was sold in other kitchen stores which really caught my attention. If you love to eat or cook and if you are interested in becoming a chief, this place is definitely a place to visit for the experience and inspirations. Their selections will surprise you, highly recommend coming here. I will surely come back again.

Stonewall Kitchen is the head office for the catalog which is circulated around the US. There is also an online store. The large shop has the most incredible selection of jams, chutneys, dips, sauces, etc. You can wander around the store and sample the great selection of their products. There is also other kitchen items to buy, as well as gift baskets. When done, if you are still hungry, you can eat a wonderful lunch in their indoor/outdoor cafe. The ham, brie, and chutney sandwich is excellent, and huge. The lobster tacos are very good. The cakes are a mile high and so good. They also have a cooking school, which I have not attended yet. Well worth a visit when in Southern Maine.

The demo cooking class was $50 and to me, worth it. We ate a portion of each course she made in front of us so actually had a full lunch included in the price. The 10% discount on a limited selection of their line tempted me into purchases I probably wouldn't have made otherwise.
If hands on experience is what you are looking for this isn't it. The video projections above were good but you could actually see the food prep without them.
More supermarkets in New England are carrying some of the Stonewall line but this is the only place you going to be able to sample them before you buy. Worth the trip for that alone if you find you are stocking your pantry with their jams and condiments.

Yes, Stonewall Kitchen is a beautiful shop, cafe, and tourist stop in York Maine. But they also offer cooking classes serving an excellent meal. Check out their calendar of cooking classes offered for lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch. Starting at $45 a class you can enjoy a laid back cooking class in a beautiful kitchen. As each course is prepared in front of you step by step you are then offered a full portion. The meal pays for itself in the end. You can purchase a glass of wine to accompany your meal or complimentary coffee. Following the class you are offered a 10% discount to shop in the kitchen area. Very professional, friendly, and educational. I would definitely recommend when you need a day off from shopping.
