Don't be fooled by the bar atmosphere and location in the middle of nowhere, GREAT food with a lot of menu choices.

“Great fried Clams but with problems!”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

I have reviewed this place twice before in past years, once good and once bad, and it continues to be a difficult restaurant for a reviewer to nail down. They have changed the menu away from the fried seafood that most Maine restaurants serve, and tourists expect. Unfortunately their fried clams and fried seafood were the best things on the menu. The combo is still on the menu but the fried clams (clearly the best in midcoast Maine) have been relegated to a "nightly special". We call ahead and if they aren't serving clams we go elsewhere...The place is reasonably clean although really an old dump. The seats in the booths are literally falling apart. Tourists may find it "quaint". The bar is busy, especially if the Red Sox are playing, and there obviously have been problems because they now have a cop on the premises. The service is good and friendly (Beth) and prices are quite reasonable. The wine list is full of glorified jug wine choices but they poor a very generous glass. The clientele tends toward local singles at the bar, lots of bikers although they tend to be well behaved, and family groups in the dining room....Its a cheap meal in midcoast Maine.

“good fun and value pub”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

I meet friends here once in a great while. We usually enjoy a drink and a bar meal. I'm always impressed with the staff and the price/quality/value of the food. The place is always busy and there are good reasons why.

Well we go every now and then, went on a burger sale day and the burger was not good, fatty, service good, at night time or holidays I would not have a tab, because you get over charged, double charged, I have had steak tips they were raw, one bartender that always say she hates her job!

“Burnt and inedible food”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

We have passed by this restaurant many times and always saw lots of cars, so finally we made the drive to try it out. It was a terrible experience. We waited almost an hour for our food and when it finally came (after getting up to find our waitress, who was avoiding us in embarrassment), it was inedible. Our son had a pizza that was burnt black; the burger was supposed to be medium rare and it was charred black and not a drop of pink in it. We left without eating. We frequent this area a lot and we will not return to this place, no matter how many cars are in the parking lot.
