“Paradise on Mid-Coast Maine”

We're seasoned travellers and used to the best we can afford. The Inn stands up to any destination we've spent 35 years travelling to, and when it's coupled with great hosts and extraordinary breakfasts, there is nothing left to be desired. Great location, immaculate grounds, clean as a whistle, and helpful, engaging innkeepers make this a place not to be missed when going to the Maine coast. Bob Whidden, Andover, MA

My mom and I took a trip to Maine this summer. We found this place online and booked it. We were not disappointed! Breakfast was fab every day and they were born to be innkeepers. Great personalities and advice on places to see nearby. We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I spent three comfortable and relaxing nights in this beautiful country inn in the "prettiest village in Maine". We woke to a gourmet breakfast each morning prepared and served by Paul and Melanie who are a combination of wit, humor, sweetness and congeniality. Their knowledge of the area directed us to a beautiful ocean beach, an impressive botanical garden and great dining choices especially the Newcastle Publick House in Darmiscotta.
Sure it was somewhat close to Route 1 but the trees, flowers and the grounds in general were enough distraction-an island of tranquility.
Owners of other B & B's whose reviews are not quite up to par would be wise to emulate what Melanie and Paul have created.

Five years into the business and proprietors Englishman Paul and Bostonian Melanie still manifest unmistakable pleasure in pampering their guests and helping them make the most of mid-coast Maine. The Golden Horn room in which we stayed was commodious, immaculate and charming; the breakfast delicious; and the recommended activities were, as Paul would say, "spot on!" Despite its name and it being fully booked, the Snow Sqaull was completely tranquil. The porch and grounds are wonderously manicured. If there be a drawback, it is the drone of traffic on adjacent Route 1 and the unsightly Citgo gas station across the way. I guess one shouldn't look for perfection this side of heaven.

Melanie & Paul are the consummate hosts of the perfect inn. The Snow Squall is a beautiful home with clean accommodations and gorgeous decorating. Extra little touches like bottled water in the room and Dove chocolates at the front desk help make this place extra special. Paul is a chef and spoils his guests with breakfasts that are extraordinary by fine restaurant standards. Pancakes w/ mixed berry sauce w/ just a splash of peach schnapps -- to die for!

To make the perfect inn that much more perfect, Melanie & Paul's babies are two of the cutest cats you've ever seen: Ono & Moxi. For a family that was going thru their own personal withdrawal from missing their cats (well, not my husband, he HATES cats), being able to pet these two was an added bonus.

Do be aware that Moxi is a killing machine and may bring the spoils of her hunting to the backdoor. Melanie is always on the lookout and quick with the dustpan to take the evidence away. As Paul commented with his lovely English accent, "It's like living with Jack-the-Ripper."

The moment I entered our room I thought that it was 'posh'. The furniture is new, and they have spared no expense on anything. Paul and Melanie are wonderful hosts. Breakfast was seriously the best ever, as Paul is a gourmet chef! I cannot compliment them enough and I will be returning every year.

This was our first experience with a Bed and Breakfast and now the bar has been set quite high for future stays at a B and B. Everything about the Snow Squall Inn was exceptional from the charming, comfortable room to the most delicious breakfasts. The hosts were so welcoming and accomodating. We loved the morning breakfast conversation, the relaxing den with the T.V, , and the advice for sight-seeing (and this is a very centrally located inn with lots to see near-by!) Neither my husband nor I think there can be another experience as wonderful as the Snow Squall Inn. If we ever get back to Maine, this inn will be our destination.
