Red's consistently is mentioned as a place to eat generous (a whole lobster plus) and tasty lobster rolls. In the same breath, a wait is guaranteed. It is all true. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day, and the nice people in line helped offset the hour-plus wait mid-week. The employees were great!

My husband found Red's online and wanted to make sure we made it there. He dropped me off and took our kids to the toy store next door. The wait (at 2 p.m. in the afternoon on a weekday!) was about 45 minutes. Thankfully, it passed quickly. While in line, I did hear that the place across the street is just as good, but that it just hasn't had the publicity that Red's has.

As for what we ate... Everyone goes for the lobster rolls. They were very good. They automatically served them with butter on the side, not mayo. We also had the zucchini (pass on it--too much breading), onion rings (okay, but a lot of breading), fish sandwich (very good and worth having), sweet potato fries (excellent!), chicken tenders (good, average), and chicken sandwich (good). The best of the bunch was the fish sandwich, lobster roll (which is pricey), and the sweet potato fries. It is a great place to eat with kids and all my three children (5, 7, and 9 yo) enjoyed their food immensely.

Later in town, I also heard (while eavesdropping) one employee at a coffee shop talking about the employees at Red's. She spoke favorably of the folks and how they really care about the customers.

So, was it worth it? Yes, I didn't end up minding the wait and I can say that I ate at "Red's Eats". Although, be prepared, you may be eating at picnic tables outside and using a port a potty (for Red's customers only), if you have lobster rolls, this will be a pricey meal. For the 5 of us, the meal hit $70 and we didn't even order any drinks since we had water bottles with us.

Absolutely ridiculously good. The key here is they aren't skimping on anything. Luscious lobster piled on a perfectly grilled bun. I'm not one for massive portions EXCEPT when it comes to lobster, particularly on a roll. This place doesn't disappoint. I'll be dreaming of that lobster roll forever.

A must do when you go to Wiscasett, ME. Be prepared to stand in line for at least 40 minutes to get your food. The lobster roll was a generous portion of solid lobster ( the lobster is served chilled). It is one of those things you need to try at least once. Do not expect any charming atmosphere. You are sitting next to Rt 1 with all the heavy trucks passing by.

Red's has absolutely the finest lobster roll in all of Maine! The lobster is tender, the bread is fresh, and the quantity is more than plentiful!! It is one of those places you should not miss if you are traveling in Maine. Long lines? YES, but there is a very good reason: FLAVOR!!!
