“Good beer, decent wine”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

We stopped by in late September and we were pleased but not wowed by this winery. The standout of the tasting was the Meadow Road Wheat Beer. It was quite good, smooth and flavorful. The rest of the wines and beers were decent to good but none stood out so much I remember them. The tasting room has a nice feel to it with lots of wine paraphernalia for sale.

One comment I will make about the tasting: it was the most costly of all the tastings we had in Maine. We visited 5 wineries in Maine. Three were free to taste up to 6 different vintages; one was $2.50 per person for a choice of 6 and also sent you home with your tasting glass. Winertport Winery was $3.00 per person for a choice of 6 tastes of the beer and wine. Considering that they have 25 different beverages to choose from, it means that if you were really interested in tasting most of them, it could cost you $12. While not a huge cost, it is high by comparison to the other vineyards in the area.

Still, if I was in this area and in the mood to go to a vineyard or brewery, I would give this place a shot.

“Maine Winery with a Brewery, too boot”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Winterport Winery is located in the historic village of Winterport. Has a large selection of fruit wines and beers. Something for everyone. Penobscot Bay Brewery is a on-site brewing facility and was started in 2009 specializing in small batch, handcrafted brews. The tasting room is not lavish, but very warm and well appointed. This is a "must" trip if you are in the Belfast area or Camden. Wines like, The Flying Dutchman, a Blackberry Wine with Grape Brandy, my pick, and Berry Chocolate, a Blueberry-Raspberry Wine with natural chocolate, my wife's pick, both easy drinking. Certainly something to impress the people back home. The selection of wines and beers were different and stimulating. The four owners, who we met, were all there that weekday and very informative about there selections. This is one of the 25 winery in Maine that is at the top of the list to visit.

“Good food, good beer, good wine”
Reviewed April 29, 2012

A lovely former inn, now a restaurant and meeting center that I've been to several times. Never had a bad beer, a bad plate of food. If you like fruit wines, you'll like the ones here.

“Fruit wines and mild beers”
Reviewed April 8, 2012

The wines are all non grape based except for one cabernet. Tasting was free and the servers were knowledgeable. Attractive room. We liked the dry pear, the cranberry and the apricot dessert wine. Beers were malty (none had hop character) and typical microbrew quality, nothing outstanding struck me.
