Schoodic Point offers magnificent views of Cadillac and Dorr mountains over Frenchman's Bay. Basalt plutons extrude through granite formations and give you a glimpse into the regions volcanic past. Beautiful surf and sunset pictures; bring bug repellent.

Schoodic Point has been my favorite place since I was a child. I noe travel back to my home state annually and stay near the point so that I can visit every day. The surf is awe inspiring is conditions are just right. Sunsets are spectacular looking towards Cadillac Mountain. Just sitting and watching and listening in the surf is a balm to the soul.

A perfect place to enjoy and explore the ever changing ocean, sky, and rocky Maine coastline! We love to climb the rocks and watch the waves come in. It’s a great place to sit and read or just be.

Free shuttle bus around the peninsula will bring you here. Picnic while you hear the ocean roar and walking the rocks. Nearby is a New campground 2015 with electric and water. Large sites, flat and well spread out. Clean bath houses friendly staff and volunteers.

Once you have seen the fantastic views and rock formations at Schoodic Point, don’t miss taking some of the great trails. Park at the BlueBerry Hill lot and take a .7 mile flat hike to the head of the trail to Schoodic Head. It is about a mile up to the Head, for great views and a very strenuous hike. We elected to take the short trail (.4 mile) down the north face of Schoodic Head. It is not for the faint of heart...many areas of scrambling down the rocks. Be careful on the many roots...when wet, they are also very slippery.
