I was really worried when work sent us to Wilon ME for a week, including Christmas. However, I was pleasently surprised. We stayed in Room 50 on the 2nd floor for 7 nights.

While it wasn't the season for enjoying the outdoors, the property was well maintained. The room had ample space for hanging clothes, and a dresser. 2 dbl beds with a hanging TV that could be angled towards the beds to the table / lazy boy chair. The mini kitchen had everything we needed, except an exhast fan of some sort to help get the kitchen odors out of the room.

It would have been nice if they had put a little Christmas tree in our room or done something to help us feel more at home over Christmas.

Laundry facility was very clean. Change machine would be a good addition.

Staff was very friendly when we needed them.

Overall I would say that Whispering Pines is a basic country motel - but way above the types of motels you see on a long stretch of country highway. I would definetly stay there again.

The Whispering Pines Motel is a comfortable, unpretentious spot on lovely Wilson Lake. We spent 3 nights in Unit 40, a 2-bedroom suite with a full kitchen and living room. We had access to a small back porch, from where we could see the lake twinkling through a stand of birch trees at the end of the expansive back lawn.

We found the motel to be spotlessly clean and well-stocked. The grounds are very nice, with plantings all around, and flowers cascading from the balconies. There is a small gift shop. It is close enough to walk into Wilton, where there are a few stores, a bakery/cafe, a restaurant in the old Bass factory, a library, etc.

But best of all was the lake. Guests can walk right up to the water's edge, and even take boats out from a small dock. We saw (and heard) 3 loons on the water each day. Relaxing on the lakeshore we felt like we had found a small slice of heaven.

The only negative was the fact that the guest above us got up at 5 a.m. each day and we could hear him walking around, since the floors creaked. But it didn't last long.

About a year ago, we were on a motorcycle trip and just happened on this place. It is a very nice setting with flower gardens and as the name suggest - pine trees. It sets back off the road and backs up to a really nice lake. The motel has a paddle boat and canoe available for use - free to guest. The place was not new, but was clean. If you listen you may get a chance to hear the Loon that lives on the lake. We really enjoyed our visit.
