We have rafted with several other companies in the past and then with US Rafting this past weekend. This was one of the best experiences. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. Entertaining too. We will definitely return.

“Best experience on the river!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

I have rafted with US Rafting several times and each time gets better, if that is even possible! Bill and his guides are personable, knowledgeable and completely committed to making your experience the best that it can be. You wind up leaving the Outpost feeling as if you have just attended a family reunion. Thanks so much, Bill and crew! I can't wait to come back!

I've rafted with a few different companies now and US Rafting was the best, hands down! It felt like we had known these guys for years and they went above and beyond to make sure each group got the experience they were looking for! I now go back every year!!

“Hours of Peaceful Floating with Moments of Exciting White Water”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

I have traveled to West Forks in Maine several times, a couple recently to float with US Rafting on the Dead River. It was anything but "dead" during our passage. My friend Renate, from Germany was visiting and although she had never descended a stream with white water, she brought herself to trust my recommendation and so we drove northeasterly from my home in New Hampshire. We stayed there overnight to insure being rested for the pre-trip orientation, gear selection and familiarization with some fellow rafters. Many were first-timers but I concentrated on Renate and her jitters, leaving others to supply their own answers to what awaited them downstream.

We loaded gear, bus ride to the put-in(no, not Vladimir-it is where we enter the river with our raft and partners), and now with out personal floatation devices, helmets and paddles, we carried our raft to the river's edge. It did not look Dead and the big water had not yet been released. After multiple groups, each with its own guide/steer-person/humorist step into the raft, took positions and waited until everyone was ready. On signal, we started to flow at the river's pace, learning the guide's signals to assist in raft control and steering (or aiming). And THEN, the big water was released from the dam above us and a lot of stored and pent-up energy gave us an assist to what awaited us around each bend in the river.
Pulses do quicken, but there is little danger and we have practiced drills for retrieving anyone who might get into the water prematurely. A truly scenic passage on the Dead River with just enough excitement to take stories home. Along the route there were photographers who captured images at exciting points of the descent, and you can review them for purchase when the ride is done and we return to base for a meal and story telling.
Renate and I decided we would drive up to the summit of Mount Washington early the next morning, so we parked at the staging area east of the mountain to sleep overnight in my small SUV. That was a thrilling experience which I will leave for another TRIP ADVISOR review.

“Exhilarating”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

We had an exciting day on the river. Class 2,3,and 4 rapids. Our guide was very knowledgable and fun. Some of our group swam in the class 2 rapids, they loved it. We had a meal after at the base, BBQ chicken rice and beans. Had a great day!
