Congdon's biggest problem is that it is a victim of its own success. Their parking lot is often packed to the gills, and the parking lot entrance is at a heavily congested traffic spot on Route 1. IF you can find a spot to park, you will often have to wait for an hour before you're seated. The hostess has sometimes seemed overwhelmed by the crowd, and I have seen her let herself get buffaloed once or twice by rude, pushy customers who don't think they have to wait in line like everyone else. They could do a better job training there, and adequately staffing the hostess slot on weekend mornings. They sometimes have a free pot of coffee for people waiting, but they do a poor job keeping it full. Once you get seated, the service is fairly good here, always friendly, if sometimes a little slow. The interior is that of a bright and cheerful diner, with standard diner fare. There are usually some families with loud kids within earshot. Doughnuts are on the menu, so you don't need to order them at the counter if you came in for a sit-down breakfast but wanted a doughnut too. Their food is just fine, not excellent, but definitely good enough. It is a tad on the expensive side compared to similar breakfasts elsewhere. The doughnuts themselves are superb. I don't know if I would use superlatives like some other reviewers, but they are very good. If you can stand fighting crowds, (or if you luck out and come at a slow moment), it's absolutely 100% worth eating here.
