Chocolate Covered Bacon. Let me start there. Let that sit in your mind for a moment. Its that good. If you happen to stop in & they have it... get it...
Otherwise you'll just have to settle for the best of everything else.
Lobster Benedict
Pumpkin Pancakes
Honey Bun French Toast...
Endless coffee...

& I didnt even mention the doughnuts that (I believe)they bake on premises... absolutely some of the best food ive ever had

Chocolate Covered Bacon (just in case you forgot)

Congdon Donuts are the best donuts, no question about it. The freshness, lightness, moistness, flavorfulness (is that a word? it should be!), and the varieties are incredible, no one else comes close. They practically melt in your mouth, you definitely don't need a coffee or a drink w/them, they're moist enough to go down by themselves, unlike dry donuts that you find at other places. With so many choices to pick from, it's a literal smorgasbord that embraces your visual and olfactory senses, making it quite common for the person ordering to stand there and stammer with an, "Ummm, uhhhh, one of those, and, uhhhh, let's see, one of those, mmmmm, ummmm, ok, one of those....." Every single choice of donut looks so good as your eyes sweep across each batch of flavors that you want to shout out, "One of those, and one of those, and one of those," you don't want to leave any out or skip any but if you did that, if you picked one of everything, you'd end up w/over 2 dozen donuts! Congdon Donuts rule!

For whatever reason, we decided to eat someplace else our first morning in Wells. What a mistake. We got there around 9 am on Columbus day, and were were given a pager to wait for a table. The hostess said 25 minutes, and she was spot on. While we were waiting, a nice young woman came around with a tray of doughnut holes to give to those of us waiting.

The menu has some nice variety to it, with some things that you might not expect -- such as a honey bun cut in half, dipped in egg batter, and cooked a la french toast.

We were not feeling so adventurous. I ordered a breakfast staple of mine (at least while eating out): corned beef hash, eggs, homefries, and toast. The hash was homemade, and was like a boiled dinner crisped up on the grill, with corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. The eggs were perfectly poached, the home fries nice and browned on the outside and velvety on the inside, and the (house made!) pumpernickel bread toast was delicious!

My wife got the omelet special -- thick cut, crispy bacon with potatoes, onions, and cheese. It was one of the best (bites) of omelet I've ever had.

On our way out, we decided to pick up some pastries for the way home. The doughnuts put every chain to shame...and the whoopie pies were good too!

When we return to Wells, I know where we'll be eating breakfast!
