We stayed here for a one night rest stop near the ocean while traveling from Providence, RI to UMO and then Bar Harbor. The room was small but very clean and quiet. We were on the back of the motel so Route 1 noise didn't bother us. It was just a short drive or trolly ride to the beach. For a room in Wells during peak tourist season, the price was very reasonable. My only real complaint is that it is very hard to get away from cigarette smoke. While smoking is not allowed in the rooms, there is a chair with an ash tray or sand-filled bucket outside of every room. There is no way to have your windows open (and they do open, so that is nice) without having smoke come into your room if you are unfortunate enough to have smokers next to you.

Room Tip: Get a room in the back part of the hotel to avoid noise from Rt. 1 traffic.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights last weekend, which is during their peak season, and we were both very happy with our room and experience there. We got a good deal on a two night stay that came with a $30 meal voucher to one of six local restaurants. My first impression of the room was that it was extremely clean and the decorations really warmed up the room. My only complaint is that we tried to use the pool multiple times and it was full of kids, and the hot tub occupied as well. The pool is very small, especially given the number of rooms available, but we went back when they first opened the pool at 9am the next morning and were alone for a good hour. It was also conveniently located! We never had to travel more than a few miles down the main road to get to anything, including mini golf, drugstores, kayaking, and a ton of restaurants. I would definitely stay here again

I stayed at the Sea Mist late last summer with my boyfriend, his son and his mother. This little resort provided just what we needed for our stay in Wells. It was close to the beach and many other attractions and was clean and quaint. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to another stay in the future!

We stayed at the Sea Mist for a last-minute weekend. Being March, it is definitely off-season, but the Sea Mist has a nice indoor pool and jacuzzi, and is perfectly located for walking in town or on the beach.

Our room on the first floor had a queen bed (a little hard, but comfortable), a pull-out sofa, small kitchenette area and a full bath. It was spacious for a couple, and we liked being able to bring food in for breakfast and snacks. There is a two-person table for dining, so on a longer stay you could cook a simple meal or heat up takeout (no cooktop, but there is a microwave). The room sleeps up to four, but we thought it would be a little tight with kids, and it is way too small for 4 adults.

The room was decorated in a cute, sea-side theme. It had obviously been newly renovated.

Check-in was friendly and quick. We paid just over $50/night, and I was definitely concerned about quality at that pricepoint. It is definitely a bargain, and while on-season rates will be more, I can easily recommend the Sea Mist to couples who don't mind a non-luxury experience near the beach, or families looking for an inexpensive stay.

Soap and dish soap were provided, but bring your own shampoo and conditioner. Plenty of towels and washcloths, and extra pillows and blankets were in the closet. The Inn is walking distance to some restaurants and a short drive to many more. You are also near shopping including grocery stores, CVS, Rite-Aid, and the all important Dunkin' Donuts (there is a coffee maker in the room, and a small packet of coffee is provided).

I had read the reviews, and was worried about mentions of cigarette smoke. They do not allow smoking in the rooms, but reviewers are right that smoking is allowed outside on the passageway to rooms. In the summer with windows open, this could be bothersome (and would bother me). I suggest that to offset this, the Sea Mist consider designating a non-smoking zone of rooms so that people have that option. They do allow pets in a few rooms, which is nice, and apparently all of those rooms are in one area.

I would return to the Sea Mist and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Request a newly renovated room.

We loved our stay at the Sea Mist Resort in Wells. After reading the reviews here on Trip Advisor, I was a little scared of what we might be checking into but couldn't pass up the 3 night special for $99. WE LOVED OUR ROOM AND THE RESORT ITSELF! We stayed in a full size bed and pull-out sofa room that accepts dogs. We expected the room to be a bit worn down because it was a "dog" room, but the room was BEYOND clean and was super cute with freshly painted walls and sea inspired decorations. We stayed in room 224. Our room was located on the second floor and convenient to the "doggie relief area".

The room is SMALL once you pull out the pull-out sofa, but we managed with no problem. The small kitchenette was great. It featured a sink, full size coffee pot, toaster and medium sized fridge. We made breakfast each morning to save ourselves some money for shopping! They do supply you with dishes and utensils and you are required to wash your own dishes and keep up the kitchen which was no problem. TIP - We washed the dishes BEFORE we used them, just in case the folks before us were not thorough in their cleaning. Again, the room was small and I would NOT recommend it for a family of four. It's good for just two people tops.

The bathroom is small with the toilet and the full sized tub/shower in one room and the sink and vanity in the other room. This was fine though. One of us could shower while the other got ready at the sink/vanity. The Resort offers you soap a hairdryer and lots of clean towels but there is no shampoo/conditioner. Make sure you bring your own.

We could not believe how QUIET the rooms were. We had people with dogs and kids next to us each night on both sides and never heard a thing. NOTE - They only have 5 dog rooms and they place anyone with dogs all together so if you DON'T have a dog, don't worry, the resort is not over run with dogs!

The bed is a bit hard and the pull-out sofa was hard and springy too...but we made do. We always travel with extra blankets "just in case" to make the beds more comfortable.

Our room had a great flat screen TV, a small dining table with chairs and a coffee table. The Resort has all kinds of movies and games to rent. The pool and Jacuzzi are awesome too!

The staff is EXTREMELY friendly and accommodating. We asked for extra pillows and they were delivered right away. Anything we needed they were able to provide.

$99 for a three night stay was great! We were able to travel all over Wells, York, Kittery, Sanford etc. and the resort was convenient to all. There are TONS of great restaurants nearby too and the beach is literally a 3 minute drive.

The only thing we did not like was the fact that folks can smoke right outside their rooms. They should have a designated area for smoking only. I think a lot of people would be a lot happier if they did this. We did not have trouble with this, but I can see how it could be a MAJOR nuisance to non-smokers in the Summer when it's busy.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay again. If you are expecting a super high-end room, you may want to book elsewhere. The rooms are nice and extremely clean, but they are basic. Don't expect Donald Trump to meet you at the door. :)

Room Tip: There are very few hotels/motels and resorts that accept dogs in Wells, Maine. This one does and th...

Non-smoking rooms, barely. Every room has a chair outside the door on which to sit and smoke. Ashtray containers with sand are sitting on top of each room air conditioner. Ashes easily float into rooms. Must step over other smokers to get to your room. They say they allow smoking on the deck. They mean the outside entrance to the rooms. Smoking allowed everywhere except directly in the rooms.
Housekeeping and staff were nice and helpful. I admit that I made a poor choice for my needs. I should have called before booking to assess the smoking because I am sensitive to it.
The rooms are old and dingy. Other than second hand smoke, the rooms were clean. As someone else said, " Motel converted to timeshare condo's"
The rooms are restocked with towels etc every day, but so small, that the housekeeping cannot do any cleaning and they do not move your stuff.
Ameniites include an indoor pool, nice size, outside picnic tables and grills, nice green space for children to run.
The kitchenette did have nice size frig w/freezer, but no dishwasher. Sink was too small to place a plate in. They provided no drainer, so you need at least 2 dishtowels a day if you try to fix breakfast and/or lunch. Bring paper products and toss them. Microwave is too tiny for anything other than tiny pouches. Smallest that I have ever seen. WiFi needed password access every time you logged on and was very slow.
Economy room and TV did not swivel so could only be seen well from the very uncomfortable sofa. Could not view it well from the bed.
No laundry facilities, laundromat a few blocks down the road if you need it.

Room Tip: I believe they have bigger rooms and even a full kitchen in the largest of rooms. If you are a smoke...
