As frequent visitors to Wells, Kennebunk, Ogunquit areas of Maine and trying all the local restaurants I cannot believe we never went to Joshua's in Wells Beach before. As a contributor to Trip Advisor I read the many glowing reviews and just had to see for myself if this was as good as everyone wrote. We arrived the first night and had the last seating at 8:30 pm which was a little later than we wanted but none the less looked forward to our dinner. Wow is all I can say. The restaurant is located in a restored old house which gives the place a warm unique feeling and the soft lighting adds to the charm. The chefs mother greets every guest at the door and your reservation is timed perfectly to match the incredible service. We had a drink at the bar to start as we arrived a little early. If you are not able to secure a table in the dining room you can always eat at the bar which in itself is an experience as everyone is so friendly ( locals and tourists alike). Now to the best part our dinner was simply perfect from all the fresh natural organic ingredients to the local meats and seafood to the fresh grown herbs and vegetables. We started with the duck pate and arugula salad followed by the chicken infused with lemon and I had the swordfish. We also never usually have dessert but the home made ice cream was to die for. The wine selection is extensive and many a great value for the price. After realizing just how fantastic the meal was we immediately booked again. Oh yes I forgot to mention Josh makes all his own bread which is so good we ordered 3 loaves to go!!! Our second night was even better than the first and we were lucky to be served once again by Andrea. This time we had the mousse pate and mussels to start followed by the rack of lamb and of course had to finish with the caramel ice cream and chocolate bark. Incredibly delicious!!!
Make sure to try this wonderful restaurant you will not be disappointed.
