I checked in and the Manager at the desk - very helpful and friendly, as was the rest of the staff. I was concerned about cnstruction going on next door but the rooms were great - quiet and comfortable beds!

We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. While we had booked and subequently confirmed a suite, no suite was available when we arrived. The hotel staff, however, did not inform us at check in. They simply checked us in and allowed us to discover the error when we entered the room, which was a regular room with 2 double beds. When we subsequently spoke with the front desk, the staff did not apologize or offer to accomodate us. In fact, they insisted that they had given us a discount when in fact they had charged us the regular rate for the room we were given. After several discussions and call to Hilton customer service, Hilton offered us a discount because of the inconvenience. However, at no time during this process did we receive any apologies from the Hampton Inn staff. In fact, they complained that that we had called the general customer service number available in the hotel room. Due to the rude service, we would never stay here again.

The hotel is brand new. Thus everything is quite clean and fresh.

The room we had was VERY large. 2 queen beds. kitchenette, couch. desk, bureau with tv facing out to center of room. Neither to the beds or the couch. Could be angled I guess but didn't use it.

Disadvantages - Large bathroom with sink outside bathroom with no door. Thus when in bed could see , hear anyone at the sink, since it was basically next to the bed area. Also no towel racks by the sink. all - the few that there were, were in the shower toilet area. SInk was higher than normal and also deeper. Not that great if you are short or for children.

Room was very large - lots of wasted space in the middle unless you needed an extra cot, crib, then plenty of room.

Lighting was just adequate due to the large space.

There was really no place to put your suitcases. no hutch and no wall space to lean them again. just in the middle of the room. also less drawer space to unpack in case you were staying for a while.

the following night we stayed at a difference hampton in portland and it had the traditional low hutch with room for suitcases on top and several drawers.

Hotel had the usual amenities. 2 computers to pick up your mail when not being used by kids playing movies. No time limit posted and no one monitoring use.

Probably would not stay here again unless price was much lower off season

It is new, just a couple of years old. We go to Wells, Maine for a week every year. We have stayed in hotels up and down Route 1. Of course when we saw the new Hampton go in, I all but begged my husband to stay there next time. To no avail, "those places are expensive" he'd say. Well, so is everything in Maine that close to the ocean in July or August! This year, I put my foot down. I wasn't staying at another aging, out of date, tourist trap again. I wanted to stay in a "nice hotel". He finally relented. I booked our rate online, searching for coupons or ways to get a deal. I found the Hilton/Hampton 10% off rate for their sponsorship of the Olympics called the "Team USA Advantage" rate. Hey, 10% is better than nothing. We booked July 14-17 for $161.10 a night. Hamptons include a full breakfast with many hot items, so I figured that was a pretty good rate for the area. In past years, we had paid $150, $139, $119 with a continental breakfast. The room was brand-new, a fluffy king-size bed, a pul-out sofa for our two kids (8 and 7). A desk, free wi-fi, big TV, really really clean bathroom. Could have used a fridge in the room, there wasn't any.

The breakfast is Hampton quality all the way. It's busy in July so there was a woman in charge of the breakfast every day who refilled things constantly. The hot portion of the meal included small cheese omelets one day, breakfast pizzas another day, hard-poached eggs and sausage patties the next day. There's also fruit, cereal, good coffee, juices, pastries, a toaster with assorted breads and bagels - too much to list all of it.

The hotel has a mid-sized pool and a large hot tub, plus a small "fitness center", and a patio with lawn chairs to sun outside. We used the pool every day. My husband loved the hot tub. Everything extremely clean.

What was great for me was that it is a bit pricey, so the clientele is also a bit upscale. We felt, as a family, maybe a smidgen out of place - as it was mostly older folks and a few businessmen, but not much. There were other families there, but they were all very respectful of each other - no noise at night, polite in the elevators, no running in the halls, polite and respectful at the pool and at breakfast. Such a difference from the tourist traps!

The hotel is right on Route 1 so you need to travel to the beach. You can take the trolley right from the hotel, or drive to one of the parking lots (you'll pay to park). With children, we plan to drive to a parking lot anyway because we're lugging beach pails, boogie boards, lunch, etc. So the location of the hotel wasn't an issue for us. It's less than 2 miles down the road if you really love to walk. Convenient to the grocery store (across the street) and lots of restaurants (none on site).

I'd definitely stay again - maybe not peak season when they are charging $229 a night, but definitely off season or pre-season. And I'd search for good rate deals online!

This is a great property. It looks brand new; the lobby is very nicely appointed and the rooms are immaculate. Great beds and a very nice, large, bright bathroom. The front desk staff were extremely accommodating. You can't go wrong staying here. Its location is great and the trolley stops right outside the parking lot. Close to Ogunquit, Wells and Kennebunk and lots of places nearby to eat including the great Sundaes on the Beach. Stay here if you're going to be in this area of Maine; you won't be sorry.
