We sat at the counter because we could sit right away. It was fun watching all the activity behind the counter and the speed with which the kitchen worked. I had the blueberry pancakes which were fantastic. My husband enjoyed his hash & eggs.

If you like diner food, you should love the Maine Diner in Wells, Maine. It has great diner fare with a touch of Maine -- chowders, seafood, and down home cooking. The clam chowder is perfect but my absolute favorite thing to eat there is the hot lobster roll which is cooked lobster meat served on a toasted bun with a side of melted butter, dill pickle, and chips or cole slaw. The lobster meat is always tender, the bun toasted just right, and the melted butter is perfect for drizzling over top. They do serve a cold lobster roll (lobster mixed with mayo) which is also quite good if you prefer. Also, they have a good breakfast menu which is served all day. Be forewarned though -- if you go in the summer months, customers are lined up outside the door to get in. So, do what we do -- call in a takeout order which is ready in minutes usually and pick it up. You can take it with you or if the weather is nice, eat at the picnic tables that face the diner's vegetable garden and bird feeders. Have been eating here for years and highly recommend it.

Always a good meal whether its for breaksfast, lunch or dinner. Good variety of sandwiches and entries. The appetizer of macaroni and cheese is enough for a meal and the meatloaf special is more many people can eat. Good food at reasonable prices and friendly efficient servers.

The last day of our vacation we stopped at the Maine Diner. What a treat! Comfort Food, great diner atmosphere, amazing blueberry chocolate chip ice cream and to top it off- Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was just sinful and so totally delicious. Huge lobster chunks in every bite, creamy hot cheese, tender but firm pasta. Heavenly! I can see you might have a bit of a wait but we did not wait more than 5 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. Make sure you try the blueberry ice cream, a HUGE scoop for only $2.50. Great meal.

We just came back from a week in Maine and as usual we went to the Maine Diner for dinner. The food is the best in the area, excellent service and the atmosphere is great. We could sit there for hours just observing! My husband had the meatloaf special, which was two thick slices of meatloaf topped with homemade gravy, a huge portion of mashed potatoes and steamed green beans straight from their backyard garden. I had their specialty, the lobster pie, big chucks of lobster baked with a crusty topping, served with a choice of sides. Their desserts are great and we often go for breakfast. This is a must visit when in the Wells/Ogunquit area. They also have a gift shop on the premises to browse and shop either before or after your meal. This place was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and here is the link to watch the full segment.
