If you would rather be outside with nature instead of shopping, this is the place for you! We chose this for the length of the trail...only one mile, and location, and the fact that it's a free visit. The trail if perfectly maintained and easy to navigate; a stroller would work great. It would be easily handicap accessible I think. There are 11 stops (using the trail guide) and I think there were three benches placed along the walk at the observation decks if you do need to sit down, We saw woodpeckers, bluebirds, Canada geese and a chipmunk to name just a few of the critters. There is a visitors centre but it was closed the Sunday we were there. My husband and I, both in our late 60's, found this to be very enjoyable and appreciated the beauty of this park.

The views of the waterways are pleasant, and the few people we ran into were friendly, and the pictures never do the experience justice. It's the third time we've visited, and we will return again....

The boardwalk winds through the refuge offering views of wildlife (sea birds, a loon, and wild geese) with informative signs to explain what you are seeing. Because we were there in April, it was kind of raw and we didn't stayed only long enough to finish the walk. The visitor's center wasn't open. IF we get back to Wells duing the summer or fall, we'll definitely return (With lots of insect repellent).

We have been to this reserve a few times. It is an easy hike and would be suitable for children. You do not have to be in good shape to do this walk. The trail is well marked and loops around to where you started. On our few visits here I have not seen much wildlife. Also many of the trees do not look too healthy. Years ago there was a landslide that damaged many of the trees on the side of the river. You would enjoy this trail if you like being outdoors. There are some nice marsh views, but it is not anywhere as beautiful as Laudholm Farms which has seven miles of trails that traverse field, woods, marsh and beach. If you can only do one nature reserve I would recommend Laudholm Farms.
