We were on our way to camden and stopped by Moody's. It was terrific. The service was great and so was the food. We had chowder and sandwiches. Great prices. Not fancy just good down home food.

Moody's is undoubtedly a Maine roadside landmark and is full of history but on our recent visit, the food was less than remarkable. Neither of us had been there since childhood and we thought it would be fun to go back on our way up up the coast Christmas shopping.

My husband and I each ordered burgers; his was the 1/2 pound, mine the 1/4 pound. Waitress asked how we wanted them cooked. I asked for medium rare; husband asked for medium. Upon receipt of our burgers, both were cooked well-done, mine actually crispy around the edges. I'd also be VERY surprised if it really started out at 1/4# before cooking. We didn't send them back because it was busy and they took quite awhile to come the first time...didn't want to wait for replacements.

Prices appear super cheap on the surface but once you add in fries or onion rings (extra), cheese (extra), tomatoes (extra)...the price adds up. Yes, we paid .59 each for a slice of tomato on a burger - crazy, right?. We probably won't eat there again. We'll let the locals have Moody's. They seem to like it just fine but it just wasn't what we expect for quality and service at a place with such a great reputation.

Well done diner food. Filling and great prices. Nothing fancy - place looks like a big trailer, but the pies are amazing!

For a cheap eat, large portion sizes and good hearty food, head to Moody's Diner. This place was recommended to us by the owners of the Black Lantern B&B where we were staying. They particularly recommended the blueberry pie.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but it is absolutely worth a stop to eat. They have good, affordable food typical of many American diners including hamburgers, chowders, fried seafood, mash, gravy and loads of different pies. We went there two nights in a row as it was so good! We tried the chicken croquettes with mash and gravy, eggplant (aubergine to us Brits) parmeggiano with spaggheti (be warned that this dish is huge and comes with a large side salad and garlic bread!), hamburger with potato salad (delish!) and fried seafood platter (came with clams, scallops, shrimp and fish bites + 2 side dishes of your choice), the whoopie pie (pumpkin flavour - very sweet but worth a try) and the all-famous blueberry pie. The pie was so fresh and yummy. We highly recommend trying one of the many pies on offer.

This place is open every day and closes at 9pm although we noticed that they stopped seating people around 7.30pm on the Monday night. During busier times (we also went on Sunday night) you need to get a ticket number from the cashier to get a table otherwise you might miss your turn in the queue.

A meal for two including drinks and service cost just under 25$ each night.

You can't take a diner road trip to Maine and not stop here. Cool place. We ordered small orders of fries and home made onion rings (the large must be huge) and I got a cup of taco soup. All very good, sweet waitress with a neat accent and I got a whoopee pie to bring home. Great diner atmosphere and clean. Don't miss the gift shop.
