SALT is Vinalhaven's newest restaurant, and its every detail is perfect. The night we were there over July 4th weekend, we started with homemade breadsticks and breads and imaginative cocktails, inhaled perfectly cooked poussins with homemade gnocchi (among other perfectly cooked accompaniments), ended with homemade maple lavender ice cream. Yes, homemade is the word. And understated elegance is the ambiance. Haven't had such an exquisite meal in ages. HIghly recommended for those who love food and those who love imaginative and accessible menus. The locally sourced produce was an extra benefit, too.
