“Quarry Tavern at the Eastwind....truly hidden”

The staid Eastwind Inn, under new management, has unveiled a new venue for enjoying drinks and light food: the Quarry Tavern has emerged from the foundation of the old inn and is a warm and inviting spot with granite walls, comfortable seating, a dart board, and limited pub menu of starters from the Wan-e-set Restaurant just upstairs.
We enjoyed a few drinks at dinner time and shared delicious appetizers including delicately flavored mussels, crabcakes, and shrimp cocktail. These were superb. Other choices included both meat and cheese trays which were as sparse as a Beacon Hill wine bistro, and we had to make a special request for bread.
The Tavern has great potential. It would be enriched by a fuller "pub" menu with some sandwiches and heartier options, but it's certainly a welcome addition to waterfront dining in Tenant's Harbor.

This recently renovated hote is well worth the stop. Either have a meal or stay the night, you won't be disappointed. Personal, attentive service.

You know you're in trouble when you go out for a leisurely dinner and the waitress tells you to order quickly because they're expecting a crowd. Service was terrible. Food was OK, but not worth the price.

The Eastwind Inn is a handsome landmark in the center of Tenants Harbor, and the new owner has given the name Wan-E-Set to the restaurant. Wan-E-Set had been the name of the inn in the early part of the 20th century. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, both of which are served to the public. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast, the 270-degree views of the harbor, the service, and the conviviality of the host/owner and other guests. You can dine outside on the porch but we chose to eat indoors because of the cool, early June temperature.

I enjoyed Maine Lobster Benedict, with a generous portion of lobster, with perfectly seasoned home fries. The English muffins had a nice crisp to them. My husband ordered the breakfast sausage which comes from a local producer, Curtis Custom Meats of Warren, MA, and English muffins. Both were delicious. The coffee was very good, too, and the waitress was very attentive, offering refills and refilling our water glasses.

The dining room is decorated with old photos of Tenants Harbor, including one of the Eastwind Inn when it was called the Wan-E-Set Inn, and a beautiful, large framed Jamie Wyeth print on one wall and some nautical pieces.

We are looking forward to a return visit next week, this time for dinner. Soon, they will open their Quarry Tavern, which we look forward to patronizing, too

The prices for breakfast and dinner are very reasonable. For example, my lobster Benedict was $8, and the dinner entrees average about $17, including sides.
