The options in Stonington are limited so everyone seems to frequent this reasonably priced cafe with home cooking. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here during our vacation and although breakfast and lunch were good, dinner was excellent. I had broiled seafood which was better than a seafood restaurant. Service is laid back but it's a nice local restaurant for a casual meal.

There aren’t a lot of options in Stonington but you can find great food at the Harbor Cafe. My family of 4 spent a week in Stonington, Sunday 9-2 thru Sat 9-8-2012, and we ate out every meal. We ate at least twice a day, everyday at the Harbor Café. They open at 6AM until 8PM, 7 days a week.

The food is always good and the service is always friendly. When you come you should have realistic expectations, it is not fancy. The place is small with a small staff so sometimes it can get a little swamped but just chill out, you’re in Stonington. If they do “it” different here than they do back home, stay at home if you can’t handle something different. Lots of locals (which tells you a lot about a place) and tourists in a simple café setting. The wait staff has always been super friendly and after a few days we felt like locals too. Just a solid café with great food at very reasonable prices. The Harbor has got to be the most affordable place in Stonington (or on the entire island of Deer Isle).

They have a great breakfast here. Terrific Pancakes (Blueberry or otherwise), great corned beef hash (my favorite), huge menu of standard fare. Everything will fill you up for hard day of lobstering or just being a tourist. They always have a few lunch specials which are always a good bet. Fish & Chips, Lobster rolls, big fried haddock sandwiches. It’s simple but it’s good. At dinner, they have specials but the same menu runs from lunch through closing. I love the twin lobster dinner. Two lobster “chicks” about 1 pound each, the shells are much easier to get into and the meat is very tender. Melted butter, baked potato and bib, you’re good to go! They have homemade pie made fresh every day but when it runs out, it runs out. No pie from the freezer here. The Blueberry is the favorite but the Maine berry (Blueberry, Raspberry, & Strawberry mix), Strawberry Rhubarb, or the Toll House are all excellent choices, too. They do close early so don’t wait too late, remember these ladies have been on their feet since before 6AM and want to go home too. Stonington isn’t known for its nightlife. This was our 3rd trip to Stonington for a week visit since 2007 and the Harbor Café is our favorite place, breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Stonington is a little village, with very local flavor. One such place is this cafe. Is it the best food I have eaten? No, of course not. But, it's a local eatery and we both enjoyed it. This place is a home-cooking kind of place and I think they do a good job of it.

Still sitting across from the Harbor Cafe after my wife & I both had the haddock dinners (fried & broiled). Great quality & quantity, nice veggies & great blueberry crumble for desert. Fancy & polished....no. Value, quantity & quality....yes. And by the way, the young girl who served us was exceedingly pleasant! Seemed to be quite a few locals when we were there which is a good sign to me!
