Description: Stonecutters Kitchen has been est in 2017 and is located at the back of Harbor View Store with a very large dining area overlooking Stonington's Beautiful Harbor and Commercial Fishing Pier. We are in the former Fisherman's Friend Location and we are the same owners. This is a serve yourself style dining with an ordering counter and pick up station. We also have a full bar with all your favorite Spirits, Lots of Maine Local Drafts on tap and Bottled beer and Wine. We are a relaxed stress free place to enjoy Locally sourced Seafood. Check out our menu or visit us on Facebook to see more.

With an excellent location with incredible views of the harbor and islands, The Fisherman's Friend is a solid bet for good food in Stonington. There are plenty of choices for everyone on the menu including excellent seafood. This isn't an over-the-top fancy place that tries to create art with food, but a restaurant that consistently serves outstanding traditional cuisine from burgers to salads to steamed lobsters. We came by boat and tied up at the town dock. We had salads, burgers, fried clams and they were great. They know what they're doing and they do it well. For what it is and where it is, we give it 5 stars.

Had a great and very filling grilled lobster dinner on the patio. Great view of the harbor, lobster done to perfection, and friendly service.

The four of us (two couples) went to the Fisherman's Friends Restaurant on the basis of a recommendation by the concierge at our hotel. We arrived without reservation at 7:15 PM on a Saturday night. Many people waiting. But, we put our name on the list with an expected 15 minute wait. Right at 15 minutes, our name was called and we were seated at a comfortable table overlooking the Harbor.

The menu was excellent with lots of variety of fish, crustaceans, mollusks, meat, poultry and vegetarian. The prices were surprisingly good. The meals delicious. Excellent service. Like Weeluv2Travel2, we would "definitely recommend eating there if you're in town." I would go a step further: namely, recommendation even it you're not in town. Worth driving to experience "a nice surprise in Maine."

A little hidden from the main drag but glad we found it. Service and food were very good and the restaurant was in a nice spot. Definitely recommend eating here if you're in town.

On our last night of a two week stay in stonington my husband went to this establishment hoping to get an early dinner. We were told that around 3 or 4 we would have no trouble getting a table. We had wanted to make reservations at one of the two more upscale restaurants in town, but they are only open very few nights of the week, and reservations are required WAY in advance. I tried four days ahead but they were both booked so we ended up at fisherman's friend. We arrived around 3:00 PM. The place was empty. We asked for a table for two and we were asked if we were on the waiting list!! I said "but the place is empty". The hostess said they were in the middle of a shift change and things were a little confused. That was an understatement. We asked if we could have a drink at the bar and we're told we could. We went to the bar to find one wait staff person watching the TV with a couple of customer/friends. I asked if she would take our order. She replied that she would have to go find a bartender and took off. Finally she came back and decided she could serve us. We were taken to a table shortly thereafter. There was one other couple in the restaurant. It became quite clear that something was wrong. For the first hour we were there only two waitresses were serving and there were some customers out on the deck also. There was a young man sitting at the bar bragging about how he had whipped out 12 sandwiches in 15 minutes....don't know if we worked there or not. Ordered some wings. Based on the information we were given that they don't have any really hot wings we ordered the Buffalo wings. 30 minutes later they arrived and we're so spicey that they were uncomfortable to eat. Entrees were served when we were still struggling with the wings were were only adequate. This restaurant is basically the only game in town four nights of the week. They need to pick up their game if they want to maximize that opportunity.
