“A great compliment to a family memorial”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Chef Kris Burrin and the Factory Tavern staff did a great job helping make our Aunt's memorial very special. We had family from all over the country coming to Deer Isle for the service and The Factory Tavern hosted the evening dinner for ~20 people. Now the family comes from a very diverse background and culture and all felt this was an excellent event. The staff was attentive and could not have been better. They were helpful without being intrusive. The food was excellent and the desserts were extraordinary. The wine was perfect and my glass always full. A sign of good service is that we interacted with family from all over that we had not seen in years, laughed and cried as we relived memories yet had a great meal with lots of wine / cocktails and dessert without even noticing the staff. Everything just happened with perfect timing. Everyone raved about the experience the next morning over brunch. I have had many meals over many years of visiting Deer Isle and this was by far the best. Plan an event there because they did a fantastic job.

“Excellent Place in a small town”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

We found this place because some people we met at the dock raved about the food. It was a short walk from the harbor and we had views of the water while eating. It is a fairly new place and the chef is English. I was looking for shrimp but it was not on the lunch menu. I tried the recommended Hamburger and it was excellent, the cole slaw was one of the best I've ever had and the French Fries were home made. It was fun to take a boat to the Harbor and then just walk to lunch. The staff was very friendly.

“Great option in Stonington”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

Arugula salad was really yummy, fresh, interesting and huge. Prime rib was a little too done for medium rare, and not the most tender, BUT the taste was excellent and the portion generous. Dessert was really good, homemade ice cream with toffee sauce and shortbread. Splurge on the calories and get it. There are not a lot of options in Stonington, so make reservations and say you would like to sit downstairs if you want a little livelier atmosphere, we sat upstairs and it was a bit quiet. Quite is good if that is what you are looking for, nice to have the option of lively and quiet.

“By Far The Best”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

I have been looking at all the wonderful reviews of our island restaurants. We are very fortunate to have so many great restaurants, for a small community. This is my first review. I wanted to give a "local" persons opinion of The Factory Tavern.
We have been enjoying Chef Kristian Burrin's cuisine for many years. We first discovered his talents when he cooked at the Whale's Rib, then when he and his business partner decided to open the Season's, a fine dining restaurant on Main Street in Stonington, we were behind them 100%. We have enjoyed many delicious meals there.
The smartest decision they made, was to buy the "old" Bay View building and turn it into a Pub/Tavern style restaurant. The range of meals are incredible Anything from Nachos with Chili to many fine dining choices. We feel the Pub Menu has brought more local residents in and they are the ones that will keep the Tavern open this winter.
I really can't chose a "favorite". At lunch he offers a BBLT (Bacon, Brie, Lettuce & Tomato), with a Cranberry Mayo on Whole grain Bread with HOMEMADE fries. His Bourbon Sauce BBQ Ribs, his delicious Lobster Chowder, his Mac & Cheese with Spinach & Mushrooms, His Lobster Risotto, his Steaks, cooked to perfection are just a few dishes that keep bringing us back. The biggest problem we have is dining somewhere else. Whenever we travel we compare the other restaurants to the Factory Tavern and we find them lacking in so many ways.
I just hope that after all of you try this wonderful place, there will still be a table for us...:-)

“excellent food and ambience, with noise”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The location is across the street from the water. We managed a bit of a view on two evenings and watched the sun go down. We had interesting salads, haddock, wild boar sausages, and blue cheese burgers. The food is well prepared and very good.

The cuisine is a blend of British pub and coastal New England, coming together very nicely.

The clientele seems both summer people and locals, all lively and enjoying the bar and the dining area. It's a bit noisy, but so is almost everywhere.

Good service and nice people.
