My wife and I, age group 55-60, ate at The Frog on a Friday night in June 2012.

We enjoyed our experience very much. The food was extremely good, freshly prepared and well presented.

The real ale was kept in excellent condition.

Service was efficient and friendly and intervals between courses felt about right.

The pub was full and had a good atmosphere and it is set in a peaceful village in the Chilterns.\

We would definitely be happy to return if in the area.

The frog had been recommended to us so we were somewhat surprised when we were attended to by a rather sour looking landlady. After barking at us and hurriedly taking our order we were left to find our table that had been set for us. Our son asked about the toys behind the bar which children are allowed to play with which he was told were to keep children quiet, there was a sign which said something about noisy children will be kept as slaves. The very old puzzle games did keep our children quiet but they were filthy. The food was adequate although the fish batter was very greasy. After eating our children went outside and then quickly hurried back as the landlady shouted at them for looking through an open gate, which was unmarked as private. We left quickly after explaining to the rude landlady that shouting at our son was unacceptable behaviour for an adult. This was met with more raised voices so with 3 upset children we left and will not be returning to the frog which is far from welcoming to children.

My partner and I stayed at the Frog last night and loved every second! There was a very warm welcome when we arrived and were shown to our room. We stayed in room number 4 which was very clean and tidy and felt very cosy. When I first sat on the bed I worried a little as it felt quite hard, however upon sleeping later that night I had a cracking nights sleep! So we sat in the bar early afternoon and had a lovely ice cold drink and was met by the beautiful owners dog Belle. Whilst sat at the bar, we easliy found ourselves winding down and relaxing and went to catch some rays in the beer garden (closely followed by Belle and playtime.) Whilst sat in the sun we were able to enjoy the peace and quite and watch the Red Kites flying around. We had a planned tour around the local bewery and winery later that afternoon and Richard was kind enough to drop us off and tell us about the walk back through the woods that we could take. After the wine tour we took a lovely walk back through the woods watching the deers in the fields and the red kites flying above us. We returned to the pub later that evening, again with the weather still being nice we sat in the garden to eat. The food was delicious, with a great variety to choose from and breakfast was the perfect way to start the day. All the staff very very friendly, welcoming and attentive. A great atmosphere I will definately look to return in the future.

It is some years since I last went to the Frog, at that time it was for dinner and excellent too. We went yesterday for lunch and very little had changed. A warm welcome from the very helpful staff. The menu provides great choice. We wanted just a light lunch so Figs wrapped in Prosciuto with Balsamic Vinegar, a Chicken Caesar salad and Potted Shrimps were all freshly prepared and delicious. There are other lighter options, delicious looking platters or more substantial things from the main menu. There is good local beer and a great selection of wines by the glass, all of good quality and value.

The Frog has the advantange of a lovely garden overlooking nearby fields, and yesterday in the blazing sun it was idyllic,

There is a small car park, but if this is full there is ample parking on the road closeby.

This is a lovely place, TRY IT!
