“Owners and staff will go out of there way for you!”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

My girlfriend and her daughter went up in early May and fell in love with the place. She booked a room from 10/10 -1014. Unfortunately I had to come home and am now writing this. When we arrived, Dave and Vickie came out to greet us and gave us a very warm welcome. Then we were greeted by the true owner 'Speedbump' the lovable cat. We were in a room on the 2nd floor, with a beautiful view of the water. We love the location, you're 5 mins from Bass Harbor, 10 mins from Southwest Harbor and 30 Mins from Bar Harbor. It is a great place for all those that don't want to deal with the crowds and crazy traffic. The rooms were very clean. Our shower had good water pressure and hot water. Our Wi-Fi worked well. The breakfast from 7-9 am was good, they served fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, bagels, donuts and pastries and of course coffee and tea.
With Acadia National Park being officially closed the staff was very helpful in telling us the closest and best places to park to get to our favorite spots.
When it comes time to go, you don't want to leave, you feel like you made some true friends. I can't wait to go back. I wish personnel in all places were like this. The only reason this review doesn't get a 5th star is the thinness of the room walls. I hope I have been helpful?

Great motel, great location! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly...more so than any other motel we've been to in a long while. The rooms are large, comfortable and clean. All this and its only a short walk to the seawall. I can't recommend Seawall Motel highly enough...we're going back next year for sure!!

8 motorcycle riders stayed at Seawall on October 8th in 4 double rooms.

Loved our stay. Rooms were super clean and sevice was exceptional. Dave and his team went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We rode in late and wanted to take in a local lobster dinner. They suggested Thurston restaurant in Bass Harbor and they even called to let them know we were coming in late after closing hours.

Rooms are basic and walls are thin but a very very nice place if you hate the tourist traps of Bar Harbor.

Will definetly be going back next year.

PS Please vote as helpful if you like this review.

Room Tip: Anywhere is fine but I prefer main floor with parking access

Prior to our visit to MDI, I did research over several days on which hotel/motel we were going to stay at and I kept coming back to the Seawall Motel because of all the positive reviews...Speed bump did inspire us :) We arrived late at 8pm and was greeted by David who was very friendly. Meeting David and Vickie were like talking to old friends who made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Of course there is Speed bump, who also greeted us and is always hanging around the office waiting for his photo ops. We stayed in room# 16 which was VERY clean and had two queen sized beds, satellite T.V. and access to WI-FI. The WI-FI signal was on the weak side, but it was useable. The bathroom was just as clean as the rest. You are literally right across the street from the ocean and being on the second floor gave us an ocean view from our room. During sunset, I walked across to the ocean and saw a harbor seal about 50 yards away from shore. At night, it's peaceful and quiet. The Seawall Motel is about a 30-32 minute drive to Bar Harbor which wasn't a problem for us because it's a nice scenic drive. The town of Southwest Harbor is cute and worth a visit. David and Vickie also provide a nice breakfast from 7am-9am which includes hard-boiled eggs, bagels, cereal, coffee, tea and more. I definitely recommend staying here. Thank you David and Vickie for a great stay!

We wanted to go to Bar Harbor/Acadia but didn't want all the tourist trappings. We were delighted by the Seawall Motel. It is simple, clean, and friendly. Guests all meet in the office for a continentral breakfast and can exchange travel ideas. The staff is also very helpful in suggesting options. WHile it is a bit of a drive to go back and forth to Acadia Cadillac Mtn. or Bar Harbor, it is worth it. We spent days hiking, taking a lighthouse tour by boat, and gliding - and were happy to return to Southwest at night for the quiettude. The rooms are pretty spartan - but it had everything we needed. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: For a view - try to get a 2 level room

My wife and I just stayed at the Seawall Motel; one of the reasons was because we wanted to stay further away from the overly-touristy (and frankly dull/Disneylike) Bar harbor. Southwest Harbor town is much nicer, genuine. And the Seawall Motel is just a couple minutes further down the road in an idea location. Within a couple minutes drive is "Wonderland", just a short hike to wonderful large rocks on the sea. I could have been happy staying days longer in this location of the island. The owner, Dave (hope I got the name right) is an amiable man who takes an interest in his guests. Due to the friendliness of the staff, we're returning!
Oh, another reviewer mentioned the "barricade" blocking the view of the sea. That's not exactly true. Coming out of our room each morning, we had a great view of the ocean and breathed in the fresh sea air.
Delightful place. You wont' regret it. Oh, it's clean as any motel I've been in.

Room Tip: second floor rooms have the best seaview
